Coach Jason Garrett said the Cowboys have had “some good conversations” with backup quarterback Kyle Orton but do not expect him back until the mandatory mini-camp in June.

“I don’t want to go into too much detail on that right now,” Garrett said, asked if he is satisfied with Orton’s explanation. “The situation is what it is. We anticipate him being back at some point this offseason.”

The mandatory mini-camp is June 17-19. The conditioning program, which began April 21, and OTAs, which begin on May 27, are voluntary.

“We would like to have all of our players here,” Garrett said. “Every coach in our league would tell you the same thing.”

The Cowboys’ OTA dates are May 27-29, June 2, 4 and 5 and June 9-12.
