When he heard what was wrong with Tony Rom, coach Jason Garrett knew what was going to happen next.

His quarterback would be back in the game soon.

“There really was no doubt in my mind he was going to go back and play,” Garrett said. “I said, he will be OK.”

Romo has shown he can play with rib pain. Two years ago in San Francisco, he played with a broken rib and a punctured lung. Garrett called Romo just one of many “tough guys” on the Cowboys, as evidenced Sunday night against the Giants when Morris Claiborne and Dez Bryant also returned to the game after injuries.

“It’s part of the game. Everybody is playing with some kind of nick or bruise,” Garrett said. “You just fight through it. Tony has a track record of doing that for us, and not only fighting through it, but playing well with the injury. We have a lot of guys on our team who have done that. Mo Claiborne came back last night and played. Dez Bryant came back last night and played.

“Those are all positive things for your football team. Those guys love football. They’re tough guys. They love their teammates. They love to play, and they’re competitors and they want to be out there.”
