Cowboys defensive tackle Jason Hatcher said he’s going to be in treatment for his stinger until 9:30 Friday night, and when he wakes up the next morning, he’ll likely know whether he can play against the Saints.

“I’ll pretty much know by tomorrow whether or not I’m going to play,” he said Friday. “Cause every morning I wake up and feel better and better. It’s one of those tricky deals where I wake up the morning, might have all my strength back or not. Hopefully, it’ll be all my strength back in the morning.”

Hatcher said he was going to have an acupuncture, muscle stimulation and a massage to restore the strength in his left arm. He said he lost all strength in it after suffering the stinger in the fourth quarter against the Vikings.

He did not practice Wednesday or Thursday but returned to the field Friday, trying to get a feel for a neck roll put into his shoulder pads.

“It felt OK today,” he said. “I still got another 48 hours or so.”

He agreed he might aggravate the injury by playing, and he acknowledged a long-term risk. But he said he’d still rather play.

“I’m just a team player. I buy in for the team,” he said. “I play for the guys on this team. I don’t look ahead. I pray to God, and I know God will protect me if I’m good enough to play on Sunday.”

He smiled as reporters asked him if they could check in on him Saturday morning.

“Y’all just pray for me,” he said. “I really want to play in this game. It’s going to eat away at me if I can’t. But I’m up in the air with it. I’m staying neutral about the situation so I won’t be crushed game-time if I can’t play.”
