Rookie safety Jeff Heath said he did everything bad Sunday night against the Saints.

“It’s everything, man,” he said. “I just didn’t play good. I missed tackles. Guys catching the ball in the middle of the field, and that’s my one job, to not let anyone catch the ball in my area.”

Heath couldn’t bring down some of the Saints’ top play-makers, including tight end Jimmy Graham and receiver Marques Colston. He got turned around on a long touchdown pass to Kenny Stills and generally looked overmatched and out of place.

“I just tried to forget about the bad plays, tried to looked forward,” he said. “But it’s tough. Definitely tough.”

Heath agreed the Saints deserved credit, but he said the Cowboys defense could have done more.

“They’re a good team, but you know, if we just do what we’re supposed to do and do our jobs, it doesn’t get like that,” he said. “We didn’t do that, and I especially didn’t do that.”

What’s next for Heath? Well, he isn’t going anywhere. The Cowboys have five safeties, and one, J.J. Wilcox, is hurt.

“That’s all you can do, is watch the film, learn from it, and then just work on the stsuff that we did wrong and play better next time,” Heath said.
