The Cowboys and the Texas Lottery announced their fifth version of a scratch-off ticket, this one for $5, but again with a chance to win a visit to the draft room.

That’s the official version of the prize. Unofficially, it’s also a chance to talk pre-draft strategy with the Cowboys owner.

“They would get to see the board. I guess that’s not good,” Jones said, drawing laughs at a press conference Wednesday at Valley Ranch. “But they do see the board early, get an idea of where we might go, and some of the strategy. And we really spend a lot of time talking with them about that. We have confidence in them.”

The draft-room visit is one of the “second-chance” prizes in the scratch-off game. Players whose tickets don’t win can send them in for a drawing for other prizes.

Of course, reporters are scratch-off buyers, also. Wouldn’t it be OK for them to get a visit to the draft room if they win it?

Jones smiled.

“Of course. We won’t discriminate,” he said.

He continued, “It’s pretty interesting when you think. Now, that is a time when (fans) see your draft board. If they happen to be with the wrong intent there, they might read your hole card there a little bit in the early going. But it’s good.”
