Jerry Jones did not talk long to reporters after Thursday night’s preseason finale. The Cowboys owner stopped for a minute and said he thanked all of the players for their work in training camp.
“I just said my little something to the team, principally to the ones that won’t be on the roster, and told them that I personally appreciated the hard work. No matter if they’d been here a week or throughout the entire offseason,” Jones said.
“We played five games, and we got a lot of work out in California – a lot of repetitions. So I think we got as much out of the opportunities that we had, which was five preseason games, all of the practices that go with it, we had good weather to practice in, and we got in about as much done to implement a new a new defensive philosophy, to get players and coaches acclimated with each other over on the defensive side of the ball, a new special teams coach in here and to do some of the changes we made on offense. I give Jason Garrett a lot of credit for having to put all of that together and manage that. I think we’ve had a very successful offseason.”
And then he answered one quick question about Sean Lissemore, that it looked like a concussion, and that was it. A weekend of thinking about roster cuts was next.
