How do the Cowboys beat double coverage on Dez Bryant? Jerry Jones says you throw it to him, anyway.

“The same kind of throw you throw to him in the end zone the other day that he made that catch – he can make that catch with two people on him,” Jones said on his weekly radio show on KRLD FM 105.3 FM “The Fan” Tuesday. “You throw him the ball when he’s double covered. You can do that.”

Bryant caught two touchdown passes against the Chargers, one a leaping grab over cornerback Richard Marshall and another on a 34-yard catch and run in the middle of the field. He wasn’t doubled on those plays.

But Jones’ point is that Bryant, with 23 catches for 282 yards and four touchdowns, can be counted on for even more, given the chance.

“Dez is going. He’s blowing and going,” Jones said. “He’s doing a great job. He’s a far better player than he was at this time last year. He’s going to get better. But that’s what we’ve got to have throughout the team.”

But Jones also acknowledged that quarterback Tony Romo can’t constantly take risks with the ball.

“You can throw the ball down the field and you can make plays that have more risk than others,” Jones said. “But it's the old adage: You throw it up there enough, you throw it up there in traffic enough, you put it in the middle of the field enough, and you get turnovers. So how do you play a game that you limit your turnovers and still give yourself a chance to take it? I like the way Romo is playing, really like the way he is playing.”
