Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he still is not comfortable about where the Cowboys are in the division, but “we’ve given ourselves a chance.”

“I don’t. I don’t at all,” Jones said, asked if he feels good about the Cowboys’ spot in the division, considering they share the lead and are 4-0 against the division. “I know the caliber of the teams. I see how close these games are. You see what you did within the framework of a ballgame, and you know how close it is.

“But we’ve given ourselves a chance. We’ve got a short week, but Oakland does, too. We want to come back and make the most of this win.”

The urgency of a win was not lost on Jones. He repeatedly said the Cowboys “needed” to win this game.

“I’ll tell you this right now: We didn’t need to lose that football game,” Jones said. “With all due respect that we have for the Giants and everybody else, the Dallas Cowboys needed to win that football game.”

Jones said if someone wants to call the last drive a “season-saving drive,” they’re welcome to.

“I think that’s not a stretch,” he said. “I am going to let you say that. Seriously. That’s not a stretch. Our win, when you look at our season, when you look at what we’ve got ahead of us, to have come back from this loss, a division loss as well as what it did, the reverse record that we’ve got, 5-6 rather 6-5, there is no question it damages us, knocks a hole in the side of this ship. … The need to win this game was pretty obvious to everyone. So it was a big game.”
