When Morris Claiborne hurt his left knee last Tuesday, he vowed to be back the next day. A week later, the second-year corner still is out.
Claiborne's knee has no structural damage, but it still is too sore for him to practice. He said he now is running "a little bit."
"I thought I would be ready that next day, but obviously I wasn’t," Claiborne said. "Obviously, I’m not now. I'm just taking it day by day and doing whatever I can."
Claiborne is shooting for a return late this week, though he likely won't play against the Cardinals this weekend.
Claiborne sprained the MCL in the same knee during last year's training camp and missed the team's first preseason game. He also injured the knee in the second quarter of the Baltimore game but returned for the fourth quarter and finished the game.
"Every day, before I go to sleep, I’m praying I’ll be able to practice the next day," Claiborne said. "Everything happens for a reason, so whatever that reason may be, it’s a blessing. I’m just taking it day by day, doing whatever I have to do to get healthy."
