Morris Claiborne's father, Robert Owens, died last week. Claiborne posted a tweet mourning his loss, saying: "Man God be working. Took my daddy on Wednesday (Dec. 4) and gave me a beautiful little girl on Monday."
Claiborne has spent time with his family in Shreveport, La., since.
The second-year cornerback has been out since Nov. 24 with a hamstring injury and not healthy enough to play in Chicago.
“We haven’t seen any work from him over the past several days, understandably so," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his radio show on KRLD-FM on Tuesday morning. "But he could come back and has the potential to be available for us. We don’t know how much work he’s got in over these last four or five days being with his family. … He’s very close with his family, inordinately close. Suddenly his father passed away at a relatively young age. He was not what I would call a real older man. Having said that, it just tore his world up. He immediately left to be with his family, and we knew he wasn’t going to play this weekend. But that is beside the point. He wanted to be with his family. And we’re giving him all the time he needs there or wants.”
