DeMarco Murray promised in training camp he would play in all 16 games this year.
So he’s not trying to miss Sunday at Philadelphia because of his sprained left knee.
“Oh, no, no, no, no. I am preparing like I am playing this week,” he said. “We haven’t said which way, what we’re going to do yet. I think it all depends on how comfortable I am. We were able to do some things today, and it felt good.”
Murray said it’s not a question of pain tolerance – it’s about what he can do as the week goes on.
“It's nothing like, ‘Aw, it hurts, or anything like that,” Murray said. “It's just how comfortable I am later on in the week. I am not in pain or anything like that.”
Murray, hurt in the second quarter last week when he banged his knee trying to hurdle a player, said he almost stayed in the game.
“It felt fine when it happened,” he said. “I was about to go back in. … They tested it. All the tests were good. It was just a possibility for me. It was just about how comfortable I am going back in. It felt fine.”
Murray said he didn’t practice Wednesday but did some running. He said he’s not considering even missing one game.
“I’m not going to put a timetable on it. But like I said, I’m going to prepare like I’m playing from here on out,” he said. “But I don’t know what’s going to happen. Just have to see how I feel later on in the week.”
Murray has already missed nine games in his career because of injuries. He broke an ankle as a rookie and missed the last three games, and last year he missed six games with a sprained foot.
“Nah, it’s part of the game,” he said, asked if he is starting to get tired of being injured. “It’s a physical game. Everybody comes across with a little something there and there, a little ding. It happens.”
Murray said he doesn’t get impatient because he keeps his head in the Bible.
“I knew when it happened, it wasn’t serious,” he said. “I got up running around, and I was able to do some stuff. Just got to keep the faith, and we’ve got good trainers here to take care of us.”
