Cowboys defensive end Anthony Spencer still has not returned to practice. Spencer had surgery on his left knee July 25 after aggravating a bone bruise while running the conditioning test July 20.

The Cowboys already are missing defensive tackle Jay Ratliff, who is out at least the first six gameson the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. So of the four starters in the defensive line only DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher are certain to start Sunday against the Giants.

Spencer, who the Cowboys are paying $10.6 million under the franchise tag, had career highs with 106 tackles and 11 sacks last season.

The Cowboys also were without safety Danny McCray (hamstring), running back Lance Dunbar (foot) and safety Eric Frampton (groin) during the portion of practice open to the media Monday.

Running back Joseph Randle has changed numbers, going to No. 21 from 35; center Travis Frederick has switched from No. 70 to No. 72; defensive end George Selvie has switched from 98 to 99. New linebacker Kyle Bosworth, who was claimed on waivers from the Giants, will wear No. 58 and new defensive end Edgar Jones, who was acquired in a trade from the Chiefs, will wear No. 55.
