Quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson said there were no issues with him moving upstairs with offensive coordinator Bill Callahan.
“There weren’t any issues at all,” he said. “It’s not something I hadn’t done before. When Coach Phillips was here and Jason was the coordinator, I was up there. So it’s not a big difference to me.”
The Cowboys made the change Sunday to bring a new wrinkle to the communication between Callahan, Wilson, coach Jason Garrett and quarterback Tony Romo. In the previous games, Callahan had sent the calls to Wilson, who passed them to Romo. Sunday, the calls went to Garrett, who passed them to Romo.
Presumably, it was to get Garrett closer to the nuts-and-bolts operation of the offense.
But Wilson said it was close to business as usual.
“Everything is on the wrist band, so it’s not that big of a deal,” Wilson said, asked if it required extra practice during the bye week. “It wasn’t that much different.”
Evaluating Romo, Wilson said Romo was clearly effective on the last drive, and also earlier in the game, despite the wind.
“His accuracy was good,” Wilson said. “He missed a couple early that I thought he could have had, but I thought it was more that they weren’t on the same page than it was the wind. I thought he performed extremely well.”
Romo finished with a quarterback rating of 86.5. He was 23-of-38 for 250 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
