It looks more and more like Ron Leary has a good chance to play against the Giants next weekend.
He ran with some of the other starters before the game, an indication that he has recovered from knee surgery in the last days of training camp.
“I couldn’t run a couple of days ago, so now that I’m running, that shows I’m getting better,” he said.
Leary is a key to the offensive line. He began to solidify the line at left guard during training camp, giving the Cowboys an option while starter Nate Livings recovered from his own knee surgery. Owner Jerry Jones said this week not to rule out Leary at left guard and Doug Free at right guard for the Giants game.
Leary said he wouldn’t be surprised to be ready so soon after the surgery.
“It wasn’t that serious,” he said. “It was a minor procedure. I walked out of surgery. It was no problem at all. I’m feeling better every day.”
