Executive vice president said Alex Tanney, who started the second half against Arizona behind the first-team offensive line, reminds him of another quarterback Cowboys fans know.
“He’s shown a little bit of Romo to him,” Jones said in a halftime interview on the Cowboys television broadcast. “He’s got a little game to him. What we hope to see is, he will let go of the ball. Hopefully, he’ll come in here in the second half and make some plays for us and really show up here today. We’d love to see that and maybe get our offense untracked here a little bit.”
Tanney began taking snaps with the third team, ahead of Nick Stephens, late in training camp. Quarterback coach Wade Wilson said despite being behind after coming in at the start of training camp, Tanney has shown intelligence and a willingness to work in grasping the nuances of the Cowboys’ passing offense.
