The Cowboys need another arm for practice, whether Tony Romo plays Sunday or not. Kyle Orton is the only other quarterback on the roster.
Alex Tanney spent most of this season on the Cowboys' practice squad but was signed to the Browns' active roster on Nov. 26.
Dallas will workout David Carr, Tyler Thigpen, John Skelton and Richard Bartel today.
Carr has the most career starts with 79 in stints with four different teams. John Skelton, who has 17 career starts, was most recently in the NFL, having been released by the Titans on Dec. 17. Richard Bartel, who has never started an NFL game, is the only one of the four with experience with the Cowboys.
Bartel spent the 2007 and '08 training camps with Dallas. He was on the team's practice squad in 2007 and for a week in '08.
"We have multiple quarterbacks coming in today," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his weekly radio show on KRLD-FM. "We have watched them throw. We are familiar to some degree with all of them. We don’t have but two quarterbacks on the roster -- Kyle and Tony. Even with a limited Romo in practice, we were bringing in another arm. If there was chance Orton was going to be in the game, we didn’t want him making all the throws in practice this week because you would wear his arm out. We were going to do that anyway before we were thinking about whether Romo was going to play or not."
