Tight end Jason Witten was glad to see the Cowboys offense move, even with only four catches from Dez Bryant, against the Giants.

“I’m sure teams are going to try and take him out of the game, but we’ll find ways, just like we did last year and have done for the last four years, of getting the ball in his hands,” Witten said.

“At some point, teams are going to do other things,” Witten said. “I mean, he plays physical, he’s going to be aggressive. I’m sure they’re going to find different ways to get the ball in his hands. That’s when he’s most dangerous. Just like so many other good receivers in the league, you have to work at it. He’ll get a lot of opportunities. Those’ll come.”

It really was a change-up surprise by the Giants. Good gameplan, but Dallas managed to work around it somewhat.
But yes, they can cannot succeed long term this year by drinking and dunking...so you can be sure that they'll figure out ways to get Dez the ball.
Once the line is in place, they may give a few deep routes to Williams to open it up.
They actually had as many as 3 guys on or partially on Dez last week.

If the Chiefs try the same coverage on Dez he and the Offense will be better prepared to attack it. Hopefully they won't focus too much on getting him the ball which is where passing problems have come from in the past. The offense did what it was supposed to this week by going to better match ups. Let Austin earn his money. It's almost a sure bet that Dez will adjust to the double coverage and figure out how to beat it and when he does the 36 points scored without him will jump to 42.

I certainly hope Callahan devises a way to get the Dez the ball. As good as he has been, they have barely tapped his true potential.

I'll add in that Hanna, the speed TE in the underutilized dept--------his speed straight up the hashes into the S over the top of Dez is what could take that away in a hurry.......no LB is going to cover Hanna.

It isn't about devising a way to get the ball into Dez Bryant's hands. He runs a route on every pass play. The QB decides who he throws to. Romo has to recognize Dez' talent and treat him differently than the other options. No defense is taking him away unless Romo allows it.

He forced it into triple coverage one time against the Gints and it nearly got picked off.

Fish (The Fan) sez bubble screens. Hey, it worked for Thomas in Denver.

Part of it,.......its bubble screens to Dez, Miles and Harris, its bunch formations, its in motion, its a TE up the seam to take away the Safety over the top, its crossing patterns.........................its simply playing the game of football. Coaches job is to put any player in his best position to succeed---that's coaching, if they feel the standard package does that, then so be it. Say Hey did Dez get extended yet?

I dont want Romo to force anything... ive seen him force things to Witten (a HOF TE) and the results arent always favorable.

This is absolutely true. You can't have a poor run blocking speed tight end on the field for 20+ plays including alot of run game and never target him. If they don't use him to threaten a seam, get him the ball on a backside play action, or on an out route, they would be far better off using Smith and getting some run game push. I'm not saying you get him 10 targets like Jared Cook or Julius Thomas, but if you play him play to his strength not his weakness.
