Tight end Jason Witten said it wasn’t that the cold bothered the Cowboys in Chicago. It was that they didn’t play well.
Responding to a question about Brandon Marshall’s comments that he could tell before the game that the Cowboys were “not into it,” and Stephen Jones’ comment in a radio interview that some of the Cowboys players “didn’t respond to the adverse conditions,” Witten brushed off those thoughts.
“I don’t really know what Stephen was referring to. From Marshall’s quote, I mean, they kicked our butts pretty good. There isn’t much to say,” Witten said. “All I can say is, it was cold here, we prepared for that, we handled it in New York. I don’t think that was something. We didn’t play very good.”
Witten said the Cowboys got outplayed in every phase of the game in the 45-28 loss on Monday night, and the Bears have room to talk.
“I guess they can say whatever they want at that point, but I don’t look at it as concern,” Witten said. “We were physical offensively. We were able to move the ball. Ultimately, we just didn’t do a good enough job – they outplayed us. I don’t think it had anything to do with the conditions or the elements or anything like that. They just outplayed us.”
