Hate starting a new thread for this but...

does anyone know about how they're going to work out the roof being closed or open?

Personally I despise closed-roof stadiums in football, but I can understand them having it closed for snow/rain

I just hope it won't take once-in-a-lifetime perfect sunny day weather for the roof to be open (when does that ever happen in Texas anyway)

I imagine that it will be closed, Jones was quoted saying that he doesn't plan on opening it up much this year.

wow. lame.

Just like Reliant, the decision to open or close will be determined by the league 30 minutes before kickoff.

The decision will be based on current weather conditions. 80 degree weather with no rain in the forecast.

Edit:

Per this article

NFL rules allow the home team to make a decision about whether to open the roof 90 minutes before kickoff. It must remain open through the entire game unless the officials decide to close it for safety reasons.

However, it'll still be based on weather conditions.

interesting, thanks WG

Jerry said in his weekly show on the Fan (podcast is on the DC.com site) that the end doors will be open and there's a good chance the roof will be, too.

I think there was a blog or article where Jerry was optimistic of having it open.

Closed makes it louder.

I don't think it makes much difference in this stadium. It's only the size of the field, and there is still plenty of roofed area for the sound to reflect back down to the field. The way the seats are layed out, it shouldn't make a difference.

Roof open or roof closed?

I asked Stephen Jones yesterday if the roof to Cowboys Stadium would be open or closed for Sunday's game against the New York Giants, and he said a decision has not been made.

They have until 90 minutes before kickoff to make up their minds.

Night game, no rain in the forecast, not unbearable temperature, I'm thinking it would be open, which would make the overhead shots pretty impressive. I want to see the star on top of the digital board.

But remember this - if the roof is open at the beginning of the game, it has to stay open for the entire game. That's the NFL rule. But it was interesting that Jones said no rule has been made about whether the doors can be open or closed during the game.

So what do you guys want - the roof open or closed?

So if the weather turns bad during a game they can not close the roof....that sounds dumb.

The NFL should encourage teams to leave roof open, not create stupid rules that will cause teams to close it to be safe.

Well they don't want teams to close it and then when rain comes, open it just as the opposing teams offense comes on the field.

Or on the flip side, close it just after a typhoon passes over the opponent.

If I am Jerry, it is open and the A/C is off. Let people be cooled by the beer and the breeze.

There is actually going to be a breeze. That is so cool. There was absolutely no air movement in Texas Stadium. When it was hot it felt very heavy in there because there was no type of relief from a breeze. Open up those big doors on the ends of the stadium and you can get a nice little air circulation going.

Fair point. Didn't think of that kind of abuse.

They could make the rule to close based on bad weather....not open in case of bad weather....

how much time does it take to open and close the doors?.we could use it creatively;)

It takes 12 minutes each way...seems like forever when you're there watching it.

Does Reliant usually have it open or closed?
