I did a self-guided tour when I did it. You miss out on touring a suite, the press box, and a couple of other things. But we got to go on the field, the post game interview rom, and the locker rooms and do everything at our own pace. I preferred that but it depends what you want to see.
When you go on the self guilded you miss out on alot of the tour guides giving you the history behind Texas stadium and this one. The VIP is well worth it if its your first time.
Pro tip, bring a football. They don't provide them for you when you go on the field and you probably don't want to buy one at the shop with the mark up.

Great advice, I wish I had knew this before I went. If you don't have a football with you, buy one next door at Walmart. They have a Dallas Pro Shop inside their store and they have really good prices.
VIP Tour is the way to go, well worth the extra 10 bucks or so.
