Um...no one has hit the scoreboard AGAIN...even after what may argueably be the league's best punter from Oakland just left on Thursday...

Why is that????????????

Does it maybe have to do that a second string punter that was going to be cut from Tennessee wanted to do it on purpose since the game was in pre-season?????

(obviously no need to comment, but I like referring to this posting each week after IT DOESN'T HAPPEN!!!)

If Scifres doesn't hit it in two weeks, no one will.

Was gonna say the same thing....

Lechler didn't hit it (though supposedly, he came very close). Now if SD's Scifres doesn't hit it, its safe. That's the two biggest tests.

When that announcer said that Lechler came within a foot of hitting it, it didn't look that close to me on TV. It looked like several feet, but maybe the television angle is different from in person.

lechler hit it during warmups.

it was reported after the game he TRIED to hit it during warm ups but was unable to even hit it then. I'll look for the article and post the link here...

Give Raiders punter Shane Lechler points for trying. His repeated attempts to hit the massive scoreboard perched high above the playing field at Cowboys Stadium came up just short on his best efforts.

Three times, Lechler's booming punts in pre-game warmups came close but failed to hit the target drilled by Tennessee Titans punter A.J. Trapasso in an exhibition game.

No punter has hit the scoreboard since, including in the six regular-season games this season. Lechler said he would try to hit the board during warmups. And he tried, for sure.

I read an article from one of the metro-area writers, and he said that no punts came close to hitting the video screen. He was covering the game, so he should have an accurate account. The punt in question looked like it got fairly close, but seeing it on TV can make it look different than it actually is.

I'm sure everyone knows this, but the "Mitsubishi Electric" signs below the screen are actually 6 feet tall. The pre-season game (I was there) hit the back of the mitsubishi sign. So "technically" no one has actually hit the screen. I think Lechlers ball came within a few feet below the mitsubishi sign. So he was still about 10 feet from the screen itself.

This is my penance. I was totally wrong that a human being can hit the [strike]scoreboard[/strike] videoboard at Cowboys Stadium. It can be done. It has been proven. Though it will probably never happen in a meaningful game I was nevertheless wrong. Dead wrong.

I thought the Sign below the screen had been removed, that was part of the deal the NFL and JJ came up with instead of raising the scoreboard... I've never been there and can't recall seeing it since the game with the Titans, then again I haven't been looking for it...

about 2/3 the way down the pictures is a picture of the screen and the Sign below the screen is not there, could be a big reason why no one has hit it.

He may have missed it be even more. People act like the videoboard is 60 yards long by 60 yards wide. It's pretty narrow and that's a huge reaso why it hasn't been hit. McBriar probably has a top 3 leg in the NFL and hasn't really come close despite DeCamillis instructing him to get more hangtime on his punts this year.

I really don't see why people bring up 'they hit it in warmups' because it's not like these guys are dead serious in warmups.

You might be right. When i was there for the Titans game, they were on it. They were also on the screen the next day when my fiance and I took a stadium tour. If they are off... I never noticed!

The Mitusbishi sign is now above the video board.
