Stadiums implementing 4k cameras to help officiating

I'm actually kinda shocked they weren't using them for years now?

A multi billion dollar game of inches that isn't using the best camera technology in the world.. I don't get it?

..well, its going to help. The power of suggestion is big with Refs.

THey might not want to admit it, but its all sub conscious.

That Cooper Rush play, last week Vs Dallas. He threw 40 yd grab to WR, looked liked he NEVER had control.

Call stand, by refs. Even with camera replay. I wonder had it been Dallas, do they get same call?

hmm.webp

Viewers have the benefit of advanced technology to be able to see how bad a call is as botched.

Why not use the same technology to get the call right in the first place?

It doesn’t have to be a five minute delay with a refs head under a tarp, just an extra ref in the booth that can overturn egregious calls quickly.

They ask older folks to run and keep up with elite athletes, make a split second decision and get it right.

Once they got into bed with gambling, I’m surprised this hasn’t become a bigger subject.

AI would be good in the future but there isn't one trained in NFL. Right now AI's suck at intelligence tasks, even for those jobs they were trained to do. Read all the problems with highly trained AI's failing at simple math and logic. Too many errors and too easily manipulated for specific outcomes. Right now an AI cannot be trusted.

An NFL-AI officiating scheme could be built today but will need thousands of games to train on before it's allowed to play.

Great...now how about start broadcasting games in 4K so we all can finally utilize our 4K TVs!?!? 4K has only been out since 2012 and, yet, we still don't have the ability to watch EVERY game in 4K. Yes, my TV upscales but it's still not as good as native 4K.

It doesn’t help when the fix is in

Missed calls are apart of human error

Blatant calls are another thing

How about closing the dang curtains so you don't blind your WRs and QB? Can we do that, Jerrah?

Wow, finally!

As a Brit, we've had 4K for i reckon, 8 years in football. Sorry........"saaacir"

Absolute madness it's not been in the NFL long before now.

They should carry a camera thing on them so they don't have to go under the tent, they can go off to a point where the players aren't allowed near them on the field, get together watch it and make the determination

Unfortunately, this sounds like it's just for the refs, not the customer. Though, that's more on the broadcasters than the NFL (not that they couldn't require it as part of their contracts).

Billion dollar league and they have always refused to hire full time refs….its not a cheapskate thing
