Are they holdng this kid back for the playoffs as they have seen something and didn't want to give anything away in a meaningless regular season game?

I doubted we would win this game. Couldn't see the starters wanting to go 100% and risk injury but I looked forward to the game hoping to see the rookies and backups given the lions share of plays..

Instead it was the starters running the most bland football we've seen all season that would struggle to beat the Dolphins let alone a decent Commanders team on the up. What was the point? Seems like an opportunity wasted to me.. I'd like to see me some Stanback damn it.

No. There's zero chance he's active for the playoffs unless we have like 3-4 injuries at the position.

Upon Further Review of the Inactives
Two of the Cowboys' top four 2007 draft picks were on the inactive list today: tackle James Marten and receiver Isaiah Stanback.

That essentially means this season was a redshirt year for both players. Marten dropped to nearly 280 pounds during training camp, but has since built himself back to over 300 pounds. If he's going to make a move on this roster, it's going to have to be in the offseason.

The third-round pick from Boston College played collegiately at left tackle, but was moved to the right side when he came to the Cowboys. But he's still behind Pat McQuistan and Doug Free.

Stanback remains a project. The former college quarterback, a fourth-round pick from Washington, battled a foot injury deep into training camp, and his best chance to do anything won't be until training camp in 2008.

They're not busts by any means, but it's safe to say the Cowboys got more out of rookie fullback Deon Anderson, who was a sixth-round pick ... and he's on injured reserve, too.

If true then this game really was an opportunity wasted.

Of course they are holding back...haven't you read this forum...we played this like it was the first preseason game of the year.

:sarcasm:

It must be brought up that when they drafted Stanback they knew there was a chance he would not play at all this year. They knew they were taking a risk that he could be on IR for the season.

Once he missed all of training camp there really was not much rush to put him in any games.

So basically they were prepared for the possibility of him not playing at all his first year. Also they knew he was going to be a project even if healthy.

This was not a case of someone they expected to start or even contribute any significant time this year so just keep that in mind with Stanback.

I agree. It's good that we got 1 rush out of Tyson Thompson instead.

well said? he's just stating the obvious

too bad though that most people are too stupid to know what the obvious is, so it has to be repeated, time and again

Bad season for the second day guys and Marten. A red shirt season sounds about right.

Well, Folk won a Pro Bowl invite and Anderson won the hearts of Cowboys fans by eating a cricket.

What's obvious is that there were a lot of solid football players available when we drafted both of them that would've helped this team tremendously, this year.

This game was an opportunity that Dallas took full advantage of by getting Hurd and Austin valuable reps. There is still a possibility that both TO and Glenn will not be 100% in the playoffs. Hurd and Austin will be counted on to contribute. They needed to play. Stanback did not.

Reading Glenn's post game interview, he seems ready to play. Sounded mentally ready to get very involved. Glenn was happy that he was able to take a couple of shots on his knee and everything held up.

When TO gets back, we should be ready to go!

We really need help at WR.

Stanback is not the answer.

Perhaps Reeves could switch to reciever.

He certainly has a lot of experience with watching receptions, not to sure he knows how to run a route though.:eyepoke:
