Anybody remember Kelvin Williams? He was a great slot receiver in the 90s.

You and I have very different opinions on this matter.

K Dub was an afterthought in the offense whether starting or in the slot.

He got his moment in the sun as a starter playing the Cardinals on Christmas in '95, but that was due to the attention being paid to Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith.

I think this is going to be a great move for the Cowboys, and not just because of Austin. I hated the thought of Austin or Hurd as #3; although they are no longer rookies, both are still very green as receivers against NFL defenses.

I think the veteran Crayton will make better hot reads and better decisions about when to cross the field and when to sit down in an open window. If Crayton is #3, I actually expect him to start having more productive games than he has as the starter.

Just don't understand what the big deal is in admitting that Miles Austin indeed has moved up the depth chart.

I know this drives Nate Newton crazy on GAC as it underscores the whole "touchy feely" attitude that seems rampant at times at Valley Ranch.

When you have the best game as Receiver in Dallas Cowboys history, you should start and I don't care if it was against the Chiefs as you can only play who is lined up against you.

Nobody wants to hear it but Patrick Crayton shouldn't be the one losing his job.

I actually like a Crayton, Witten and Austin look.

Nice. I think in training camp I had predicted that he'd crack a starting spot by about week 6 or 7.

I don't understand it, either.

The head coach needs to be very decisive and always appears like he has a handle on the team.

I think he does deserve the reduced role.

We need Roy Williams out there playing with Tony Romo, he hasn't had a big game yet but he has been enough of a threat to draw double coverage at times.

Patrick Crayton just isn't a big threat, especially on the outside if a corner presses him.

But Trick C does have his moments and working primarily out of the slot fits him best. Crayton will still get plenty of snaps as the nickel wideout.

It has nothing to do with being "touchy feely" and everything with most coaches not wanting to tell the opponents what they are planning.

I not only think Austin should start, but he should be the go-to receiver . His ability to explode once he has the ball is sort of like a young Owens.

Now for Romo, his first read should be Austin, and he needs to trust Austin, if Austin is EVER in a 1 on 1 situation, just throw it over there and allow Austin to become a big play receiver.

This should make a lot of Zoners happy -- Crayton deciding to keep his mouth shut.

That is only one step that would make me happy. Add on the following and I will be happy:

Step 2 - Catch the ball in critical points in the game
Step 3 - Don't run with only one hand on the ball pretending like you are MJ on the bball court.
Step 4 - Pretend like you are hurt when it comes time to return punts so someone else with wiggle can return them for you.
Recent added step: Don't fumble the ball

Let's see what he does with the opportunity. Wonder who will shine the most. I still want to see Bennett get a few touches esp in the RZ. He does have to run a better route than the last time I saw him get a look in that situation.

I'd like to see Ogletree gets some touches in the slot but I doubt he has enough TIG to know the hot reads and where to be. He seems to have more quicks than Crayton. Crayton is a smart receiver.

Wow Crayton actually declined to comment on something, that's a shocker! This was as obvious as the sky is high, Williams and Austin should be the starting WRs.

My thinking as well. he just seems more explosive out of his cuts and his run after the catch is superior to Roy Williams. I also see a young Terrell Owens in Austin's play. Those two touchdowns against the Chiefs are the type of play I expected TO to make more often in his stint in Dallas.

Come on. You don't really believe that do you? It's not like teams change starters every week.

This whole secretive nonsense is ridiculous. Its not like the Falcons haven't heard of Miles.

My guess, ATL prepares for Miles and smiles if it is Crayton.

Austin just needs to catch the ball in the end-zone. He had a couple of TD drops.

I swear, if he doesn't have a good day, this board will be all over the coaching staff for making a "rash" decision...

I like it as we really don't have anybody that can stretch the field. Austin at least has the speed to do that.

Sounds like good news all around to me.

A productive up-and-coming player gets a well-deserved shot at the big-time, and the veteran he's replacing realizes it and takes it like a man.

Win-win.
