I have a few more of these type thread topics for debate to give us all something to do til draft day.

I'm looking for input on why this does or doesnt work.

The theory is very simple. You're better off allocating resources to as many true star players as possible while still fielding a 53 man roster.

2008 team with a 116 mil cap might look like this.

11 true star players. All have been to at least the probowl. Some have been named All-Pro. The annual salary cap number ranges from 5 to 9 mil and averages 7 mil. The 11 players at 7 mil per year cost 77 mil IN 2008.
QB,RB,WR1,ROLB,CB1,NT,DE,DE,CB2,OT,OT

11 other starters. The annual salary cap number on these guys range from 1-2 million and average 1.5 mil. All 11 count 16.5 mil in 2008
WR2,LOLB,OC,OG,OG,FS,SS,TE,MLB,MLB,WR3

31 reserve players fill out the roster. These guys salary range from the rookie min to 999k. The average 500k for 31 guys costs 15.5 mil in 2008

7 mil is left for dead money in 2008.
