StarMag: A Minute With... Patrick Crayton

Hopefully the team can get over that horrid o-line performance that cost us a Super Bowl, or the defense that allowed easy touchdowns and cost us a Super Bowl, or inaccurate passes by Romo that cost us a Super Bowl, too.

Actually he has been asked that question by the media. He's addressed it and says that it's a motivating factor. How many different ways and times do we need the question answered?

Please try not bring facts into the argument. It's an agenda killer and unappreciated by the agenda driven. ;)
A man with a brain, and not just trying to be seen. FINALLY!

We changed our offensive strategy in that game. We went from a team with quick-strike capability to a team with eat-the-clock mentality, circa Bill Parcells. It was the wrong time to make such a drastic change in philosophy. Oh well, I hope the Cowboys learned from it.

I think a ton of that had to do with the fact that TO's ankle was still injured. Yes, he played, but it was still only three weeks after a high ankle sprain and he wasn't well yet. I don't think the coaches just arbitrarily tried to change a winning game.

That's a great point. TO's injury may have had a greater impact than anything discussed so far.

He might be more comfortable as the #2 receiver... I'd be more comfortable with him as the #3 receiver.

It'd be nicer with him as the #2 if he had a little more speed, but you cant argue with the production we got from him last yr. He's made positive strides every yr in the league too, so I cant see him being a lesser player this yr and in the end, if we get 50-55 catches, 700yds total yds or so and 6-8 tds from the #2 WR spot (which is really the third option in our offense) thats pretty damn good.

It didnt cost us a trip to the Super Bowl, that wasnt the NFC Championship Game...we dont even know if we'd have won the NYG game had he caught it.

It was probably a decision made out of necessity. Owens was obviously nowhere near 100% and niether was Romo. We were at home against a team that coming in somewhat beat up as well, and a team we had beaten rather easily twice already.

And as fyi, I do think we'll be a much more blanced team this yr between run/pass, unlike last yr when we were a little too pass happy at times. Houck's impact on the OL is going to be huge.

I dont think you can compare our other two wins of the Giants to our playoff loss. The Giants were a completely different team in the playoffs. They were hot.

They werent that hot...they barely won 3 of the 4 postseason games and easily could have lost any of those 3...IMO they are probably the worst NFL Champion of the Super Bowl era save the two strike seasons

I think our gameplan was smart. We negated their pass rush, and if we could have tackled or played any defense at all, we would have been up 14-0. Then we could have unleashed OUR pass rush on them. Instead we got into halftime tied.

In the 2nd half they make the adjustments to stop our run game, and once we are faced with longer down/distance, they tee off and unleash their pass rush on us. I do agree that our Oline was worn down, but the Giants simply got hot at the right time. It was a team loss, as every part of the team played poorly, but I think our gameplan of switching it up was a good idea- even if the end result wasnt very good.

I think the Boys were outmotivated, outplayed and outcoached all the way around in that playoff loss. Even so, they could still have won it but just blew it. Life goes on. Maybe they will learn from it and do better this season. If not, we'll see it again at the end of this season.

I'm REALLY hoping that he goes out and has a 70 reception, 900-1000 yard year with about 8 TDs and makes a game changing catch, in a playoff run, that helps us ultimately get to the Superbowl and then we win.

Then next offseason I'm going to sit back and laugh at just how many of these 'haters' suddenly are 'life long Crayton fans. Always have been dude, what are you talking about?'

That will make next offseason super sweet.

I was dogging out Crayton myself soon after the game. But time heals and I have come to my senses. He's a good receiver and he fits in well with our offense. I agree with others that he would be a perfect #3, but we did quite alright with him at #2. I really hope he redeems himself this season.

why are people jumping on Crayton for this interview? he didn't say anything brash

No, he didn't at all.

In fact, he seemed to say all the right things.

I'll give credit where it's due.

Hopefully he's learned from past mistakes.

what? talking smack? or dropping the pass and quitting on his route?

the former isn't a mistake IMO, and I don't think he'll ever quit running his mouth

I think it is.

That's something reserved for better players than Patrick Crayton.

when someone says something stupid 10 times in a row you take it for granted #11 will be stupid.
