Eli’s teams had great defensive lines. They didn’t have great personal at linebacker or the secondary. Cowboys had Greg Ellis and Ware….Newman at corner….Ken Hamlin was great in 2007…

You guys can’t revise history on me I witnessed all of this. Those Giants teams were barely even making the playoffs. Both SB runs.

Sorry brother, I watched them as well. They had really good overall rosters. Of the cowboys you mentioned, only Ware was great. The others were solid.

Troy is my favorite Cowboy QB of all time. But in Tony's defense, he never had a team even approaching what Troy had.

And that’s the only reason why Troy didn’t have better stats. Didn’t need to. He would have shined in a pass first era with a decent oline.

Both players were very different but their careers were almost identical. I would choose Tony to backup Troy but I’m not going to argue with anyone who thinks Dak is better. It’s pretty even.

But on paper I’m taking Cowboys talent over Giants. Ratliff, Ware and Ellis weren’t slouches. When the Cowboys lost in 2007 at home to the Giants it was considered an upset. Now post Romo’s retirement you guys want to revise history.

It was definitely an upset. I was pretty upset that the offensive line looked like a turnstile and Romo was under constant pressure. Same thing that happened in Minnesota. The offensive line was exposed and flat out dominated by a four man pass rush.

Any traditional, stand in the pocket qb would have gotten destroyed in either of those games behind that line.

I mean that’s just what’s gonna happen at times. Especially in the playoffs. Even then Cowboys left points out on the field. And couldn’t overcome self inflicted mistakes. It’s never going to be perfect for quarterbacks. Especially in the playoffs. Gotta overcome.

Nah, there's games where even good lines are going to give up SOME pressure to a four man front, but that was an all out assault. That line wasn't good no matter how much you want to edit that narrative. They were an average line that Romo covered a lot of warts for, but couldn't do it in those games..Like I said, no pocket passer would have stood a chance back there with that kind of protection.

Come on now. I’m not a Romo defender or revisionist, and you know it. And the giants being just as good, if not better, than the cowboys has nothing to do with Romo. They won two super bowls in that time and the cowboys didn’t. Not much else you can say.

Dak and Tony are pretty damn close for me. Prime Romo has the edge FOR ME, but Dak could overtake him. Their careers feel too similar for my liking.

I don't get where the idea that Dak is more mobile than Tony comes from? I get that Dak has more rushing yards and TDs, but Romo was a magician in the pocket at evading pressure and extending plays.

I think maybe the idea comes from the fact that Tony ran to be able to throw he didn't really want to go past the line of scrimmage much.
Where Dak would run to get the first downs and run for touchdowns on occasion.

Tony was elusive in the pocket until he wasn't and then he became very vulnerable and a liability.
Every time he got tackled my heart was in my mouth hoping he would get up from it.

Dak is a much sturdier player and better condition to take the punishment of being tackled in the NFL.

Are you saying send Dak back in time to play on that offense? If so I'm trying to envision Dak or Tony trying to survive in that era of football. People forget how tough Troy was. Dude spent his first 3 seasons getting peeled off the carpet. Even after the line became the Great Wall, QBs got hit just as hard after throwing the ball as they did when taking a sack and there was rarely ever a flag for it.

Be funny to watch I think.

You might find out in the long run that Sam Darnold with a very similar team won a Super Bowl about Nick Foles I can talk about quarterbacks like Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson and shall we go on you want to go look their team very similar choice teams That means Troy wasn't needed at all I mean troy was just a bus driver Yep I said..
