I'm honestly having problems trying to name the Cowboys starting front 7 for Week 1. Can someone take a stab at it ? this year I honestly can't do it :(

I think if you look at the number of snaps taken at each position after week 1 you will have a hard time saying who the 1s were.

I think all the inj'd guys will be back.

We will have Selvie, Mincey and Crawford in DE rotation. Melton, McClain and Hayden inside. Probably Coleman in the mix. Maybe an outsider also.

I was thinking Melton and McClain in the middle but honesly I don't have a clue on the ends. Linebacker I don't like any of them. This team reminds of the 2014 Texas Rangers of baseball.

Worst case scenario SDE - Crawford 1DT Hayden 3DT Coleman WDE Wilber WLB Durant MLB - Hitchens SLB Carter
Best case scenario SDE - Selvie 1DT McClain 3DT Melton WDE Someone not on this team. WLB Durant MLB McClain SLB Carter

i notice durant, hitchens, and carter started our "dress rehearsal game" and i am hearing hitchens is still taking first team reps at starting middle linebacker. With McClain taking second team reps. Maybe they will swap hitchens to back up and McClain to starter once the season starts but.........

For some reason I have a feeling durant, hitchens, and carter maybe our week one starting linebackers. I heard carter played good at strong side backer.

And it wouldn't suprise me to see wilber get some starts at Weakside DE. Mincey is steady but mincey is SLO lol. We need some speed rushers.

Whoever is 1st string in next Saturday's practice.

RDE Mincey
DT 3-tech Melton
DT 1-tech Hayden/McClain outside shot of Bishop or waiver wire pickup. Probably McClain eventually when healthy.
LDE Crawford/Selvie

WLB Durant (unless he moves to MLB)
MLB McClain (could be Hitchens or Durant)
SLB Carter/Wilber (if Durant moves to MLB, then Carter moves back to WLB)

WDE: Mincey
3DT: Melton
1DT: McClain
SDE: Selvie

SLB: Carter
MLB McClain
WLB: Durant

RBC: Carr
LCB: Claiborne
FS: Wilcox
SS: Church

This would be the most relieving thing I've heard about this team all summer. Seriously. Would love to see Mincey sitting for Crawford in base set.

1DT: Brent
SDE: Spencer

SLB: Carter
MLB: McClain

my guesses

SDE: Crawford
3T: Melton
1T: Hayden
WDE: Mincey

WLB: Durant
MLB: Hitchens
SLB: Carter

Nickel:
Selvie, Crawford, Melton, Wilber across the front

Both McClains are taking spots if they can get into shape quickly. If not they'll be rotation guys.

there has to be someone becoming available after cut to 53 better than Hayden.. has to be

Best case scenario SDE - Selvie 1DT McClain 3DT Melton WDE Someone not on this team. WLB Durant MLB McClain SLB Carter

Yes, we need to hope for this lineup, which means that all current health and performance concerns are solved.

If we can't compete and win with this group, then personnel and scheme will both be on the table.

That could be a quality starting lineup after they played some games together.

I don't know if a player with Carr's contract has ever been a healthy non-starter in the Jerry era, but if he was it would probably indicate that Claiborne is starting to play to his potential.

If Brent were to get back to his early 2012 form he would be about 1000x better than Hayden.

Either way I think they need to find a NT type to play goalline and rotate in for short yardage. Hayden is not going to get a pass rush anyway, might as well have someone who can anchor and not let the guard release upfield. If you can't stop runs between the tackles it doesn't really matter what else we do. Play 8 in the box with Church and makes them beat you on the outside.
