Phil also got a call from a Commander (a friend of his) telling him he should try out cause he could definitely beat a dude named Theisman.

Yeah I heard that. Oh well the path he took seems to have paid off and he got to do what he loves, duck hunting.

He is clearly a one of a kind. I got kick out of hearing how he would show up to practice (late) and have feathers and guts all over his shirt, the occasional squirrel tail in his back pocket. He like playing football but did not love it his love was being in the outdoors hunting and ended up making millions doing exactly what he loved.

He had 12 TDs and 34 INTs in his college career. That would have fit right in with those late 60s early 70s Steelers teams.
