impact this year then ever before. With a much more limited amount of money available then many had thought, the local taxes/state income taxes could have a big effect. Glover said that no state tax was one reason he is keeping his permanent residence in Texas. the high tax states - you might be able to use that if you are negotiating with a small difference in offers.
Most player want to live near the city they play in. Of course we could just have a lot of commuting players this coming season. JJ should look at renting another jet and use it just to ferry players- a selling point that would not come under the cap!!!

From my understanding Texas doesn't have a State income tax. Here in TN we don't either. But PA has a state income tax. Too bad for Philly.

I would think the opportunity to play for the Dallas Cowboys would rank higher than the extra few bucks players will get for playing in Texas. If not, would we really be happy a player went with us just for the extra money he would will earned because of no state income tax? These guys get overpaid IMHO already.

Some states have taxes as high as 6-8%; and some cities like NY have their own taxes. So you could be talking as much as 10%. When a deal is tight, THAT could have an impact.

Why would tax rates have more of an impact this year than any previous year?

BECAUSE without a new CBA there will be less money out there. Smaller deals - so that 10% could have more of an impact. ESPECIALLY if some are panicked.

That's what made A-Rod's contract with the Rangers even more ridiculous. Not only did Texas outbid every team by a longshot, but he was moving to a state that didn't have a local income tax.

10% is 1/10th of your money either way. It has the same impact on a large deal as it does on a small deal.

It will LOOK like more money if the DIFFERENCE between deals is close. It will LOOK more important if the deal is smaller then what the player was hoping for before all the fun and games of the CBA started.

But that would only hold true if you grew up a Cowboys fan. If you grew up hating the boys, would you really take a little less to play for the boys. Even with no state income tax?

Personally I dont see how anyone could hate the boys, but I have been made aware there are actually pple that hate the boys like I hate the skins. Hard to imagine, I know, but true.
