We're 1-4, but hope is not lost.

These are the changes I would make going into the rest of the season.

- Pick up Bobby Carpenter.

- Trade Marion Barber. Open up the play calling, and change the dynamic in our rushing attack. He did well on 3rd and short, but I don't see Felix or Tashard not getting those same first downs. Not to mention getting another draft pick next year. I think we need to start stockpiling draft picks, not to the extent that the Patriots do it, but in that direction.

- Trade for Logan Mankins. Instantly improves our offensive line. Replaces Kosier until Kosier is healthy enough to return, then replaces Leonard Davis. We don't resign Kosier in the offseason, and/or we release Leonard Davis.

- Reduce Jason Witten's snaps. He isn't the same player he was before. Maybe you need to let him recover, I'm not sure. But I give him about 33%-50% of the snaps that he is actually getting right now. Give around 15% to Martellus, and give up to 35% to Dez Bryant. I would probably trade Jason Witten this offseason if I could get a 1st round draft pick for him, and just go with Bennett and Phillips. Yeah it breaks my heart to even think it, but I probably would trade him. This offense needs to get faster, and commit less penalties. Witten is the slowest skills player we have, and he also commits the most penalties. You trade him if you can get a 1st, and use that pick on an offensive linemen. Other than WR, I don't see the point in being so "deep". We're not spreading the wealth very well, and its evident.

- Increase Dez Bryant's snaps. He is a play maker going to waste. Throw the ball to him 8-10 times per game.

- Put more emphasis on getting the ball to wide receivers instead of running backs and tight ends. These guys are the ones who are going to get us points.

- I would say be more aggressive getting to the quarterback, but I actually liked what I saw against Favre, we hit him every time he was throwing. I think the defense will come around, and bringing in Carpenter will help Brooking more than anything.

- Obviously do more to avoid penalties, this goes without saying.

- I don't know what you can do about special teams I don't know if you fire Coach D or you just hope that these young guys improve. Adding Bobby Carpenter probably actually helps our special teams.

- Maybe release Jason Williams and/or Leon Williams and bring back Pat Watkins.

Carpenter plays for the Dolphins. How much do you want to give up for him?
You think the Dolphins will take Barron in a trade? ;)

not anymore he's on the street

Isn't barbie on miami though?

I don't think they will release jason williams. He was drafted as a project player and they knew it would take a few years. He missed all last year because he was injured. You can't draft a project player and give up on him that fast. They don't need to have him active on gameday, but i don't think he needs to be cut.

We will not trade witten. We will not trade for mankins.

Basically we are stuck with what we have. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. We are talented. Bringing in a guy here or there will not fix what is wrong with this team. They need to do it themselves and its the only way the season will be turned around. Clean up the penalties and turnovers and we are back on track. But we have seen nothing to make us think this will happen

In addition to: Bring up teddy williams/cut scandrick

Move ball to 3rd CB and start a new safety

Cut Alex Baron/sign field goal kicker.

Carpenter was released.....................and this thread.........Wow.

I doubt you were being serious, but I actually like those ideas.

Scandrick is constantly getting beaten. Although I'm sure ball would be even worse. I probably wouldn't cut scandrick, as much as maybe give someone else a chance in the slot.

Barron is gone after week 1 if it was up to me.

And yeah, definitely need to sign another kicker.

Why do fans want Carpenter back?

Because we didn't replace him properly. Keith Brooking looks worn out, and if it means bringing back a player like Carpenter, to at least spell him properly, I'm not against eating my pride and bringing him back.

I'm wondering how you know this.

did you really sugguest trading Witten?

A BIG AMEN to cutting Scandrick... Scandrick SUCKS as a slot cover. Last ditch chance for him is MAYBE he can cover on the outside better than he can cover the slot.

Scandrick covering the slot receiver needs to be over ASAP.

Becasue the guy Scandrick covers is almost always open by 5 yards and almost always catches the ball while Scandrick looks completely lost. More than half the time Scandrick isn't even around to compete for the ball.

Even Scandrick has been critical of his own play.

This team wants to horde every single star player we have when we have plenty of star power as it is. Look at some of the successful teams around the league, they don't all have a dozen star players, they just do the basics and have all or a combination of:

Good OL
Good defense (With good safeties)
Capable running game

You don't need 3 #1 WR and 2 Pro Bowlers in every position. Some fans on this board think just like Jerry Jones does. Personally, I wouldn't be opposed to sending away someone on the offense (A Choice/Barber or a Witten) to shore up the oline or safeties. What did Gonzalez get for the Chiefs?

2nd round draft pick

Reduce Jason Witten's snaps so an underachieve and infinitely less reliable Martellus Bennett can have something to tweet about.

No thanks.

When people are actually trying to argue for bringing back Bobby Carpenter, you know the season is in the crapper.

I dont see any way Bennett is less reliable than Witten at this point.
