I actually made notes of this right after the SB, but just now getting around to writing it up.

Romo
Passing yards, #42 with 29,505
Could move to #27 with 4,000 yards. Rivers is at #32 with 32,369, and will stay ahead of Romo. But he should pass Kitna, Cunningham, Snead, McNair, Brunell, Jurgensen, Warner, K. Anderson, Aikman (32,942), Y.A. Tittle, S. Young, Simms & Hadle at 26 (33,503)
Carson Palmer at #25 with 33,739.
TD’s, tied at #33 with Warner & K. Collins with 208, not likely to move up the chart much, as there are 4 active QB’s ahead of him. C. Palmer 213, Big Ben 219, Rivers 221, Sheli 229. At #23 is S. Young 232, McNabb #22 with 234. Bledsoe at #15 with 251.
Competions, #39, with 2439, Rivers in front of him at #27, with 2646, big Ben 2749. This is similar to yards as to the QB’s he can pass. Say with 350 completions he will be in the 25 to 29 range.
Romo vs. Aikman
Romo is 2439 for 3775, 64.6%, 208 tds 101 ints
Aikman is 2898 for 4715, 61.5%, 165 tds 141 ints
Dez
For team stats, as way to early in career to look at NFL positioning.
#8 in yards with 4104, next in line to pass is Austin 4481, F. Clarke 5214, then at #5 B. Hayes, 7295. Going to a few very good years to catch Hayes.
$12 in receptions with 293, he will need 90 to pass T. Doresett at #6 382) but will pass Moose 294, Cosbie, 300, Austin 301, Novacek 339, Hayes is at #7 with 365. Tony Hill is at #5 with 479.
TD’s, #8 with 40, Billy Joe Dupree has 41, Pearson 48, Clarke 50, Hill 51, Witten #3 at 52. So he should be at least #4, depending how many TD’s Witten gets. #2 Irvin 65, #1 Hayes 71.
All-time, Dez isn’t even in the top 250 for reception, needs to get to 367. Same for yards, needs to get to 5,055. He is tied at #81 for TD’s, with 15 players. With 12 TD’s, he moves into top 100, depending on a few active players. 15 puts him around #90.
Witten
Receptions, #17 all time with 879, Andre Johnson is #14 with 927. Witten needs 72 to tie Andre Reed with 951 at #11 all time, but Johnson will stay ahead, so #12. Currently D. Mason #12 943, Art Monk 940
Another note, Bailey is 123-123 on xpa, 89-98 on FG for 90.8%
Not even going to look at Murray for all-time, but #11 on team with 2681, next in line to pass is F. Jones with 3484, Walker 3491, Garrison at #7 with 3886.

For those who want to keep an eye on Ware, as I actually made notes of all this before his release.
#18 all time sacks with 117, 2 behind Peppers at #17. Allen #12 with 128.5. L. Taylor & L. O’Neil are at #10 with 132.5.

If Romo makes the top 10 in passer rating this season, he'll become only the 5th player to do it at least 8 consecutive years (Manning, Brady, Fouts, Young).

If Witten makes the Pro Bowl, he'd become only the 7th skill-position player with 10 Pro Bowls. If he does it this season, he'll be just the third one ever to do so at the age of 32 (B Sanders, Gonzalez).

If Dez maintains his career averages in touchdowns and yards per reception, he'll become only the 4th player with 50 TD at 14.0 yards per catch over his first five seasons (Rice, Moss, Alworth).

So you saying I'm a loser, or anyone else for that matter, for posting some stats?
This has nothing to do with wins or losses, it's just some stats......lighten up a bit. Did i say it would help win games?
Some people just don't get it.

Troy Aikman once said, if he were not to complete any passes in the year, but they would win the SB, he said he would take that.

No, no, that wasn't meant for you. Sorry about that.

I meant, stats are for losers, as in teams that rack up stats are often the losers in a game or season. Just win.

It's amazing how often the losing team racks up more yardage than the winning team in a game.

Yeah, yardage has no correlation to wins. Pass rating, points per drive, TD%, that's another story.

But I do remember that you don't like statistics, whether they're meaningful or not.

I also don't like stats. What's the point of measuring things, anyway?
I was just telling my tailor the other day to just ballpark my inseam. Because measuring is for losers. Pants fit great, too. I have to hunch over a bit because one leg is slightly longer than the other. Apparently, that's what my tailor's eye-ball test suggested. But, hey, he knows what his eyeballs tell him, and he goes with his gut, so you have to respect that.

How about some bikini contests, that's a good point in measuring....just saying...:D
I'll volunteer to measure the Cowboys Cheerleaders. What ya all non stat lovers think of stats now...:)

The problem isn't with measuring. It's with people measuring the wrong things and trying to use that data to derive information. For example, if my tailor wants to measure the distance from my bellybutton to my tailbone, that's creepy. But, whatever. As long as he's not using that data point to try to make a decent pair of pants, it's just a measurement. The fact that some measurements aren't useful doesn't mean we need to do away with the notion of inseams and waist measurements. Right?

Hayes had 50 TDs, and his avg. was way above 14yrds a catch.....Dez so far has tied 1 Bob Hayes record, Hayes holds 22 Cowboy records, and some NFL records Dez will never touch.

Hayes definitely deserves a mention, but "over his first five seasons" was the operative phrase. He got his 50th TD catch in his 65th game, but that wasn't until his sixth season (1970). Dez has 40 in 59 games over his four seasons.

Interestingly, although each team played a 14-game season in Hayes' era, teams averaged 1.6 TD passes per game in 1965, and 1.6 per game in 2013 as well.

Some team stats are.

Turnover ratio is a HUGELY telling statistic, as is 3rd-down conversion percentage and average yards on first down (both offensively and defensively). Red zone TD percentage, too.
