Why do we keep adding to the defense that is playing well is my question?

I like the move, especially Thompson. First off, I think the front 7 and Jones are playing well, but not so much the rest of the secondary, especially the safeties. Thompson's resume suggests that, if healthy, he may be the most talented safety on the roster, at very least he is better than the guy they released who has been our fourth safety. He is also still relatively young and really it cost us nothing.

Thompson is a guy we coached at the Senior Bowl after that terrible 2015 season, too.
