Earlier today, Bills owner Ralph Wilson said that ESPN’s Chris Berman will present the long-time AFL and NFL owner for induction into the Hall of Fame.

The other five presenters also have been identified.

Per the Hall of Fame’s web site, the late Bob Hayes will be presented by former Cowboys quarterback and Hall of Famer Roger Staubach. The late Derrick Thomas will be presented by the man who drafted him two decades ago, former Chiefs G.M. Carl Peterson.

Bruce Smith will be presented by former Bills defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell. And that’s a coup of sorts for the UFL, since Cottrell will serve as the head coach for one of the new league’s four teams in 2009.

Rod Woodson will be presented by Tracy Foster, a long-time friend and business associate. Finally, Randall McDaniel will be presented by O.K. Fulton, his high school athletic director and assistant principal at Agua Fria Union High School in Avondale, Arizona.

Staubach Will Present Hayes In Canton

Posted by jellis at 6/4/2009 5:50 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach has accepted an invitation from the family of Bob Hayes to serve as presenter at his former wide receiver's Pro Football Hall of Fame induction.

Hayes is among six players and contributors who will be enshrined in Canton on Aug. 8. Also going into the Hall are Bills owner Ralph Wilson Jr., Vikings and Buccaneers guard Randall McDaniel, Chiefs linebacker Derrick Thomas, Steelers, Ravens and Raiders defensive back Rod Woodson, and Bills and Commanders defensive end Bruce Smith.

Staubach and Hayes played together from 1969-74, with Staubach the starting quarterback for the majority of Hayes' last four years with the team.

Sure am glad to see Staubach doing Bob's induction speech. I wish Bob was still around. He deserved to be here.

I am very happy that Staubach will be giving Hayes' induction speech and not a family member. I know it was touching when one of the player's sons gave his induction speech a few years ago but then it became " the thing to do" and frankly it is less interesting to me.

The guy is being inducted for what he did on the football field, not for being a great dad or a wonderful humanitarian, that would be a different HoF. I want to hear from the guys who played with him or coached him.

Sorry to be hard-hearted about it but that's the truth.

Dandy Don would have made more sense, but he's getting up there in age and is a bit of a recluse these days. This Staubach fellow ain't too shabby, though.

There's nothing hard-hearted about that. You just expressed the sentiments of a lot of folks.

Actually Thumper, you're incorrect.

Staubach will present Hayes, but his son Bob Hayes Jr. will do the induction speech.

I'd look it up, but it's in an article in the Daily Zone. My search skills suck.
