Wow Staubach held a record for 29 years that I had no clue about - the most yards passing in one's final season, says ESPN. Favre just broke it, and thats how I heard about that. Wish Id known, oh well.

Staubach led the league (not just conference) in passer rating each of his last two seasons, if Im not mistaken. He still holds that, and may for a long long time.

didn't know those were records:laugh2:

Me niether....so Who holds the record for most INT thrown in final season....who holds the record for lease amount of yards passing (min-1 pass) during final season.....

I think Roger should try and take 4 bottles of pain pills at once in an effort to pass Brett's record there. :lmao2:

Records are almost meaningless comparing different eras because of the change of style and the longer seasons.

I do congratulate Brett on having a good season than manning up and leaving the game before embarrassing himself.

Eras change, but you can only compare players stats against their peers who played in the same era. By that standard, Staubach went out at the top. His passer rating led the league in 1978 and 1979. I'm glad I got to see him play.

You should hold Madden responsible for being uninformed. :D

Staubach's last past was also an interception in the playoffs too.

That game vs the Skins may have been his greatest game of all. He truly went out on top.

Any chance they provided the numbers? It took Favre 2 more games....

not so Staubach played through 1979, the schedule went to 16 games in 1978

well be dismissive if you want, but dont comapre a positive stat with three negative stats or records or points of interest or whatever you wish to call them

I have no issues with Favre... in fact, I like him, but he is barely half the QB that Roger was...

Good luck to Brett in his retirement...

Roger talked about that a few years ago. He said the concussions were a serious worry, but that it was more that he felt that he did not have as much energy and it was getting harder and harder to come back after tough games. He said that he was starting to feel that he would retire about half way through that season. You have to remember that he was 37. And while we had a great O line most of the time he was there, he took a lot of punishment scrambling in his earlier years. Just like with Troy, a pounding taken early in the career will come back to haunt you later on.
