Staubach's net worth

Well they get a pct of what the league makes. That money is going to owners who are billionares or players who are millionaires. Seems logical to me the players gets share of the revenue because the owners are not giving to fans. It’s going in players pockets or owners pocket.
Good point. But still … regardless of what OWNERS or the league makes… these (top) players are tripping even though they’ll already make more money than they’ll ever need.

What difference does a 25M a year make vs 35M, realistically lol…

Not surprised at all on his net-worth. Roger would have been succesful in whatever he pursued, just a great human being, ethical and a hard worker. Its what made him one of the greatest QBs of all time.

10 mil a year is a lot of money. These guys have short careers and they want to walk away setup for life. But what’s fairer than the creators of the product getting basically half the revenue the product makes? The logic of is enough enough woukd more apply to owners who are already billionares

Of course it’s a lot, but everything is relative. Let’s say he signs a hypothetical 100M 4Y contract, 50M guaranteed. Would that not be enough to be set for life as opposed to a 140M 4Y contract?

I do agree that players should be compensated fairly, especially due to the toll it takes on their bodies. But I disagree with the mentality of every player trying to reset the market with every contract.

True, you need a full career of high earnings to be set for life but a 50 million jump start sure helps. The setting the market is inevitable as revenue continues to grow. When the league makes more the players share grows so each agent wants his guy to be at the same pct of the cap as a comparable player. Let’s say highest paid WR made 40 million 3 years ago and revenue rose 20% over those 3 years then to be sane pct of cap next guys woukd set a new high just because revenue grew

Roger is quite a smart cookie -- he made his millions in the NFL just as he did so in real estate. As an average human being, I'm just glad to keep good food on the table and money in the bank. I'm certain he's happy with his situation but I won't allow it to make me feel I'm missing out on anything. I'm tickled pink just to avoid being in the poorhouse. There's plenty who have less than I do. It's all very bearable.

For those that remember 1989, the Cowboys drafted a young QB from UCLA
named Troy Aikman.

Troy made more money before he ever took a snap in the NFL than
Staubach made his entire playing career.

I mean, wow.

The NFL were his poor years.

Invaluable and priceless as a US veteran, football player, business leader, the living Captain America, and human being.

One of the only reasons I put up with what masquerades today as the Dallas Cowboys.

My father met Roger many years ago to discuss some properties he had for sale. According to my father, everything had a price premium on it due to RS’s stature in the state. So, it’s no surprise he was able to accumulate such wealth.

Didn't read all the posts on this thread, but only point out (if it hasn't already) that Roger was a graduate of the Naval Academy. You are no dummy if you go to a military academy.

It's amazing what kind of wealth you can grow if you invest money in good ventures instead of spending it on bling and your posse ;)
