Staying Healthy and the NFC

I don't know about anyone else, but I look at the top of the NFC and I start drooling about possibilities.

The only thing standing between us and making it all the way, in my opinion, is staying healthy. With a healthy O-line and Romo, I don't see a team that is a strong favorite above us. There are no hands down favorites to take the prize in the NFC.

Yeah, sure, Green Bay is hot, but the most likely scenario wouldn't have us playing them until 2 weeks before the Super Bowl.

I agree 100% all we gave to do is stay healthy, play like I know they can, and especially mistake and turnover free or to a very minimum, and I'm confident no NFC east team can derail us, it will be interesting come play off time, as its a whole different scenario, but I like our chances right now.

I like our overall brand of football. Earlier in the season I heard some folks on ESPN saying we had a "portable offense" that could be taken anywhere, any time of the year. When healthy, that's a fair assessment.

I agree this team stays healthy and they have as good a shot as anyone to make it all the way. The only thing that concerns me along those lines are we are probably the team most vulnerable to injury right now. We have a qb coming off offseason back surgery and already missed time with another back injury. Few teams can afford to lose their starting QBs, but you have to figure if you said one will go down in the coming weeks most people would have their money on Romo.

I love our starting o-line, receivers, and RB. How much depth do we have though? I see some talent there, but i see a lot of projects too. Is Devin Street ready to come in and play outside the hash for 50+ snaps if Dez goes down? Is this o line still as good without Travis Fredrick in the middle? Can you imagine not having Demarco Murray? I think the run game would still be solid without him, but you don't have another runner with the vision and power he has. I lose a lot of confidence in 3rd and 2 without him. Not to mention we are already very thin on defense. We are a team that cant afford the injury bug to pop up.

Also, the packers could cool off a bit before the playoffs start which would be nice. teams who get hot too early usually can't sustain it. cowboys were hot like the pack then cooled off a bit the last couple of weeks till the jags game

I agree, theogt. We're easily one of the better teams in the conference right now, and we match up well with GB.

Re: the unrelated pic,, Beasley's photobomb isn't even the weirdest thing in it. The Beefeater is the weirdest thing in it. And then Dalrymple's enamels.

Not to belittle your point, but most teams are in the same boat when it comes to quality depth. It's hard enough to field quality starters, much less have quality depth. Having said that, we've all seen that Romo must stay healthy for this team to have a chance. However, if he does stay healthy, then we have a very good chance. For the most part, though, our overall depth is on par with what most other teams can roll out there.

I think we need to get out of the run on first and throw on 2nd down mentality. The past few games we almost automatically go to a shotgun on 2nd down. I understand we have to take some of the workload off of Murray, but we are also nearing the time when it makes or breaks the season.

We'll see how Romo performs in the cold with his back I can't imagine that cold weather being good. Hopefully the field conditions at FedEx aren't dreadful.

Playing this Sunday and then 4 days later is a hurdle Romo needs to clear. We not only have to win both games but we need the QB to come out of it unscathed.

I'd be a little bit worried about Megatron vs. our secondary. Oh, and they have Golden Tate as well--who seems to know how to put a hurt on Cowboys.

Yes, the primary goal right now should be winning both games against the Eagles. If that happens, it's highly likely that the Cowboys are division champs and anything can happen in the playoffs.

The leg in the bathtub at the very bottom (since cropped off) beats them both.

Agreed. I know the Giants are always a tough out but, I'm hoping Dallas can handle business against a demoralized Giants team and possibly be able to pull Romo and Murray in the 4th.

That would go a long way in helping him get through the Sunday Night on the road/Thanksgiving Day game hurdle.

If we play Green Bay - we just wear them down physically with the run game. Keep the ball out of Aaron Rodgers hands.

If we run the ball and play action pass like we've been doing, I love our chances to compete for the NFC championship.

There is a chance dallas can compete with any nfc team but they need to make the playoffs first. The lions and pack are going to get to 11 or 12 wins. So thats one wild card. Dallas needs to win more games that seattle or the niners or win the nfce to get in.

and Murray...I can't see him being effective against philly if 4 days earlier he carries the ball 25 times against NY

I'll have more confidence if we're playing a playoff game at home. As good as we've been on the road this season, chances of beating someone like Green Bay away are low. Philly would be cold too

I agree with all the talk that this team can be every bit as good as any team in the NFC predicated on staying healthy. The problem with that is Murphy's Law... we are screwed. I hope Romo survives.
