just from the greedy mindset that possibly we could get a pick for crayton and then just sign hartwig when he is released.

the other side of that is hartwig probably wouldnt sign here as a backup and it is a perfect place to trade crayton, good team and out of the conference.

i imagine no matter what is going on with crayton now he is liked here and I am sure they dont want to just dump him on a bad tearm for a conditional pick somewhere so a trade to the steelers would be good for him personally.

If we're going to get rid of him (I still wouldn't), at least trade him somewhere. Mosley said today that he thought the Eagles would go hard after Crayton, and Patrick would love to stick it to us even as a 4th WR.

(Which made me wonder why he couldn't just be happy being a 4th WR here.)

Get Hartwig, keep Costa, dump Holland. If Crayton goes to the Steelers, he does not come back to bite you this year.

definitely, if they just plain release him that is bad and the eagles wanted him two years ago when this talk started.

and as far as him being the 4 there and not here, I guess that is just the way it goes and always has. Its a respect thing.

But I am all for trading him if he is going to go. Trade him wherever for whatever...keep him out of the conference whily they are at it!

I remember when these thoughts first started circulating. I wasn't going to hold my breath, but I haven't stopped thinking about it.

I have been extremely pro-interior OL for the last couple of years. So no one needs to twist my arm. :)

the eagles traded a 6 today for arizona's guard reggie wells.

so I guess the market has been set for a former starting lineman now turned backup/trade bait.

If Crayton is gone is because you don't pay a #4 WR 2 million dollars.

I don't think you pay that for Hartwig either.

Crayton + Costa > Hartwig

Costa or Bright > Hartwig.

Yep...We already have solid young rookies who can fill in if necessary, and both have the potential to be future starters...soon.

If we could keep Hartwig, Bright, and Costa...fine. But I wouldn't trade for another team's castoff if it means we would lose Bright or Costa.

I'd be ok swapping 31 year olds. Hartwig has also played RT so he has some versatility.

By trading him to Pittsburgh we ensure he doesn't sign with the Vikings or an NFC East rival.

I prefer that to a Draft pick.

well yea. that is why I said there is two sides to it.

even bigger there would be no reason for hartwig to just sign here, he doesnt want to be a backup so seemingly the only way to get him is to trade for him.

looks like the market is around a 6th.

I don't know if I want Hartwig. Name just wigs me out for some reason.

On a serious note. Good to see that Pouncey is doing well. Pretty sure the cowboys liked him.

Interesting. Someone on another board was proposing that we do that.

Wonder who the Eagles weren't happy with on their own team to make that move.

I would trade Crayton for him. They're going to cut him and were going to cut Crayton most likely. Where is the loss?

my thoughts exactly

Why would you want to move Gurode to guard where he failed especially since you already have a starting LG in Kosier? Now if Hartwig is an upgrade over Gurode at center then ok. But I doubt that he's better overall.

It's a deadend.

I tihink its the right guard. I think read when jammal jackson comes back they were going to move nick cole to right guard.

How about placing Hartwig at right guard and moving Leonard Davis to Right Tackle?
