Steelers "called everyone" regarding Santonio trade
Posted by Mike Florio on April 12, 2010 10:25 AM ET
The biggest question in the wake of the abrupt decision by the Steelers to trade receiver Santonio Holmes is whether the Jets were the only team in the mix.

They weren't.

Per a league source, the Steelers "called everyone" regarding the possibility of trading for Holmes. (The source then acknowledged that the Ravens likely weren't called, and possibly not the Browns or the Bengals. The Eagles don't see a potential problem with calling any of those three teams.)

The process began, we're told, on Friday and accelerated over the weekend. And no one else was seriously interested.

Still, as pointed out in a coming edition of PFT Daily, the Steelers should have shipped him to the NFC, even if it meant only taking a sixth-round pick or a seventh-round pick.

Jets are going all-in this season - there will be enough balls to go around?

On a side note, Cromartie has fathered seven kids from six different mothers in five different states. He chalks it up to mistakes he's made the past two years. I chalk it up to being a man-*****.

Sanchez has to get them there. He's still young and has the potential to lose games for you. He started out well, tho. We'll see.........

Maybe he doesnt understand where babies come from. He probably thinks he's been unlucky with that storck. "Damn, why's that bird keep dropping these things off???"

You do have to pay him once he gets to where he's going....that was most likely the major issue. He's a one year rental right now.

Also, the Steelers were losing patience with his off the field stuff.

Finally, the Steelers also have a couple of pretty good young WRs that would like the rock more.

IIRC Sanchize was horrific outside of the playoffs. To the point where they would rather run the ball at 3.0 ypc 45 times a game than allow him to throw the ball.

He had a 63 QB rating.
It's hard to do worse than that. He was coming along down the stretch though and was drivig the bus fairly well.

He played like a rookie.

That said he has a real live arm and great deep ball. Quick release too. I think he's going to be very good once the game slows down for him some.

Very good point, I though he played very well for a first time player.

How much does this change the Draft, Pitt may be looking at Dez Bryant now.

I don't think so in the 1st round. They still have Wallace, H Ward, a good young RB, and a good TE. I think they go OL or Secondary in Round 1.

They were fed up with Holmes, I'm sure Bryant is not on their radar.
Dez isn't a bad dude, but he has certainly been stupid as far as life decisions are concerned...

Pitt just got rid of one idiot by trading him to the Jets, you actually think they're drafting another one in Bryant...ain't happening!!

I'd guess it's Pouncey or Iupati will be their selection, they need Oline help

If that spin out of Pittsburgh is true, then NFL GMs are way overvaluing their mid-high round draft choices. Those draft choices usually end up as nothing.

Or he's spreading his seed all over the US.

Steelers not looking at Dez Bryant. They are obviously dumping knuckleheads right now, not adding them.
