I found this to be mildly interesting.

STEELERS SHOPPING LINEMEN?

Posted by Mike Florio on August 30, 2008, 12:14 p.m.
As they ponder their final roster cuts, the Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly are pondering the possibility of shipping one of their backup offensive linemen out of town via a trade.
Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are considering trading tackle Max Starks, center Sean Mahan, or tackle Trai Essex.
The mere fact that Starks would even be close to the trading block highlights the poor decision to use the transition tag on Starks, which gave him a guaranteed salary of nearly $7 million this year. For roughly $500,000 more, they could have forced Alan Faneca to stay for another year — or at least have gotten something for him in trade from a team like the Jets.
Mahan was the starting center in 2007, but lost his job to newcomer Justin Hartwig.
Meanwhile, the Steelers already have decided to release receiver Willie Reid and return specialist Eddie Drummond.

All 3 guys are horrendous. Mahan has no bulk, Starks has some potential but he's basically quit since he didn't win the starting RT job, and Essex can't start on a very suspect line.

I do like Wille Reid. He had a nice preseaon, and he can return punts. He was I think a 3rd round pick a few years back. Runs in the 4.3's

I would take a flyer of Starks. He's a monster, an excellent run blocker and can take over from Colombo if we dont resign him.

The Steelers are fed up with him. He basically took the franchise tag and quit trying.

He actually took the "transition tag" and when he didn't win the RT job, he basically quit.

Get him on a team, with a superbowl chance and he will become a man.

No thanks. The Steelers O-Line last year, even with Alan, was terrible. Big Ben was sacked like 50 times. Thanks, but no thanks.
