Stephen admits this offseason is all about the defense

This is not giving away any secrets. Every team knows every team’s strategy.
It is simple. improve.
Exactly! Its tactical subterfuge and this FO is one of the best in the league at doing it.

The best thing they could do is sign him to a contract and sign a lot of free agents before the draft and be in position to draft best bpa. Then either get 2 players that are outstanding in the draft or make a trade that gives them another pick or picks.
I still stand by what I have said...Pickens will get his long-term deal. Maybe not by March 3 but perhaps before the start of free agency or certainly before July 15.

As a front office executive, you should never talk this way to the media. Even if it is obvious.

And you should never approach the draft that way.
They need offensive tackle help Steel needs replaced on the right side. The jury is still out on Guyton, may need a free agent and a 4th round prospect here. Bring the starting offense back and build this defense aggressively. Stephen sounds like they are going to give Parker what he needs to finish the defense; he is saying the right things at least.

We've got two trash starting OTs.

We're all good on offense!...Hey, Dad....did you know this chair swivels?...sweet!
Yes sir, offensive tackle was not a strength last season the position must be addressed with 2 players, it shouldn't be that hard to improve the play at OT.

no other team in this league would hire as a hot dog vendor.
I dont know bob he might be pretty good at selling hot dogs lol !!
They should let him suit up and try 1st home game, and let him use the walkie talkie to tell him where they see possible customers in his section.

You picked them to go 11-6 last season.

You picked them to go 5-0 in their last 5 games.

You don't know football.
Wow keeping count. I know football. So what my predictions did not work out.
At least I don’t predict 3 wins every year. How many times have you been wrong.
I am not petty to keep track and call people out.

They have no foresight. They only react to the here and now. In their mind since the offense played well last season it will just keep doing that for many years to come. The needs are nothing.

Watch the offense atrophy in their effort to improve the defense. Both are almost certain to occur.
I’ve never seen a more reactive FO. It’s actually crazy.

And then. They trade a first to fix a problem they created.

I mean anyone who understands this game knew they weren’t going to be good last year.

They went into the season after trading their best defensive player saying they could scheme a pass rush. Only to have one of the worst pass rushes in the league.

It's literally two clicks away.

The site keeps track for me. You should know this.

As Risen said, they can't see to handle both, by the time we get one side good the other will suck, I mean Stephen probably thinks about football less than most posters on here.

Hopefully this time is different, but with like Romo and Dak, it will be a stroke of luck. Would be cool to see a deep playoff run for the first time in decades.
You are never seeing a deep playoff run with these two in charge.
They simply lack the necessary skill set to make it happen.
They are in over their heads, and the last 30 years is proof of this fact.

Exactly. These bozos are always just reactive and never proactive. Letting the world know their plans, so everyone thinks they’re planning to help the team…when in reality, they’re thinking about their upcoming voyage.

I got the perfect job for Stephen:
He could wear the Rowdy mascot outfit at games!

These 2 dudes have zero football acumen.
To not make the NFCCG in 30 years is a statistical improbability.

This front office would be better off if it allowed someone that knows how to run a football team to take control of this team. He's a lot like Jerry in that regard, thinking he's the smartest guy around.

SJ is as careless with his mouth as he is about his decisions. That's sadly how amateurs conduct business. Telling the world about your intentions just one way to tell other teams your plans. It's a foolish idea, revealing a tendency to rely upon simplistic thinking. It'd be best if he said nothing.
