Stephen feels good about the offseason: It really came together good for us

So Dak didn't play last year? He wasn't part of the team that started the season 3-5 while he led the league in interceptions and turnovers? Asking for a friend, because if you say he didn't, I am questioning who is embarrassing themselves. We actually had a better record with a QB who is part of the Ravens this year.

I mean that is even the part of the season you were around for.

I am as optimistic this offseason, but Stephen said "who didn't play last year", Dak played half the year and it was apparently so bad that you decided to go AWOL, then you say this?
That stings, lol.

Im seeing Stephen Jones opinion threads every day.

Can we post opinions from someone that is a bit more well respected in the NFL world than Stephen Jones?

Like perhaps Kim Kardashian, or the Hock-Tuah Girl?

Stephen is a vegetable

It’s not surprising that some here expect the super bowl to have already been won.

He said the team has had a good off season. Only someone without any football sense would not see this has been the best odd season in years.

He thought they were winning 12 games last year.
Yeah. I'm not going to disparage a fan for having high expectations or even believing all the moves the team makes are great. That's up to them. I just prefer to consider all sides of it and to have them prove that they are better than what their recent past or their value says they are.

Take Kaiir Elam. I have no problem that we traded for him because he's a former first-round pick and he was cheap. However, there was a reason he was cheap. Buffalo essentially only played him when the Bills had to and he struggled in both Buffalo's zone-heavy scheme and also when asked to play man-to-man.

Giving him a shot is not the problem. Having to rely on him while we're giving him a shot is a problem. It's kind of like having to put Andrew Booth out there last year. If Diggs and Revel were healthy and Elam was only fighting with the rookie for third corner, it's a good trade. However, with Diggs out for part of the season and Revel possibly getting off to a slow start because of his injury, there's a good chance that Elam is going to have to play no matter how bad he is.

I like what we saw from Josh Butler when he stepped in, but he's also coming off injury. After that, all we've got if Elam fails is Carson (who played poorly as a rookie), Pride, Kemon Hall, some player named Barcoo and our UDFAs (Childress, Clark, Harmon and Smith Jr.).

Maybe that's why the DBs were our highest-paid UDFAs this year. Even if Revel is ready and we have he and Bland out there, we've got to find an effective third corner from Elam and the rest. In fact, in Eberflus's scheme, nickel corner is a very important position.

It’ll get thicker the closer we get to the regular season. If you must support this team financially, please bring bags to the games. How nice would it be to hear “Fire Jerry Jones” from half the stadium on a nationally broadcast game. That would be sweet music to my ears.

The team still has a lot of holes, and is relying on a rookie class to come in ready to play from the jump. That is rarely a given, despite how good the draft class looks on paper. The DT position is still a weakness. Linebacker has questions (Murray's instincts are poor, Liufau has tackling issues, Overshown is a big question mark given the severity of his knee injury). Corner is a big question mark, with Revel and Diggs coming off of knee injuries and Elam not showing the ability to play anything in off coverage at all, be it zone or man. Safety is so so. The offense has questions at LT, the running back position, and needs a big bounceback from Ferguson at TE. This isn't to mention the limitations that the quarterback has. It's an imperfect mix, and I do not believe that they have effectively closed the gap on the Eagles.

There are certainly a lot of variables that have to fall in our favor. Now, I'm happy that we are at least throwing a lot against the wall and seeing what sticks. That's better than what we did last year. But because most of what we are throwing against the wall is cheap, it's less likely to stick.

Anybody with any football intelligence can see that it has been a good offseason. Even you can see it.
Has it?

According to who?

Football intelligence you say.

We hired another first time head coach who hasn’t commanded a top 5 offense in his career as an OC.

Now he’s getting the biggest coaching job in sports. Lol.

Go get a room with Stephen. Yall are made for eachother

Last season was lame duck.
Why was it lame duck?

Because this FO intentionally did nothing in a childlike tantrum manner to prove a point to the HC.

Who then left.

You thought Zeke was a good pickup. You’re delusional about this team. I’ll see you back on here after the nice 11 game gauntlet of playoff teams when they are officially eliminated from contention and listen to you speak about the next great off season.

Hey McFly, the season hasn’t started yet. They’re 0-0. SMDH.
McFly?

Ok, Fredo.

"We feel really good about our football team."

That is an issue. I could have accepted "somewhat content for now" However, Stephen, the #2 executive has informed the media that, after going 7-10 last season, their draft, player trades, and free agents has him feeling really good.

That's great, Stephen. Go ahead, pat yourself on the back. It takes a Hall of Fame talent level and subsequent accomplishments to transform a 7-10 team in 2024 to an unquestioned favorite for next Super Bowl. As a franchise executive in the NFL, I have to assume this is the case since you feel "really good".

I would feel a little more inspired if the words were "committed", "relentless", or "never satisfied".

Team culture begins and ends at the very top. Any characteristic of the team is only important to the players if those at the top indicate that it is important to them.

Sorry about that "Fredo" remark. I didn't mean for my emotions to go boiling over like that. I probably need to check myself back into anger management. They say the 8th tine is the charm.

The Jones suck. We get it. Everyone gets it because its posters like you who remind us every thread, every day.

Honestly, I feel really good about that.

We can't let up on that. We can't ever give the Jones's and the rest of the league the impression that selfish, narcistic and totally unqualified owners make acceptable GMs. Fans deserve better than the untalented, meager, limited efforts of this arrogant family.
