NFL.com has his combine tape. Guy is huge. BAT is right, TCU defense plays a 3-3-5 and he lined up at basically what would be a LB spot.

Yep, the guy has some huge arms. One of the more impressive guys for his size and speed at the combine IMO. He ran within .04 of Malcolm Jenkins at 234 lbs.

So would he be a cover LB?

And play some SS (in the box)?

At TCU, he was the 5th db in the nickel.

Guys like Kiper and McShay projected him as OLB due to his size and speed, and they say he's a special teams demon.

However, he played SS for TCU.

For comparison, he's smaller than Roy (31), so I wouldn't say he's going to be a LB. If he makes the team, I think he'll be an in the box SS and special teams guy...apparently he does have some cover skills to at least help with RBs and TEs.

We have plenty of other guys to bring in in passing situations...it's all about packages and schemes, and to me it looks like we got players who have been highly successful...this guy was also an all conference player...they are used to being successful and they know how to work.

Every rookie that makes the team and pushes someone else out makes us a better and newer team with more edge, imo.

If BP were here, he would say the guy ate too many biscuits.

Wha? Please translate. Hodge is going to be a LB at the next level, he will be 240 easy. :p:

Weren't you the one arguing with someone about "big" safeties the other day?

He'll be a ST player at best.

STs seems to be a strong-suit for him. If he can replace Killer Keith and also give us another LB/SS option in certain packages, then he would be doing exactly what I suspect we drafted him to do.

Draft Central of the Cowboys official site has him listed as a strong safety, Hamlin from Clemson as FS, Smith from Cinncy as CB.

Shows what they're thinking, I guess.

Hodge was actually my fallback plan if Dallas did not take Jason Williams. Funny that Cowboys grabbed both of my ILB options. Hodge is not experienced or as smooth in coverage, he is a downhill player even tho he is fast.

I'm thinking ST and a Nate Jones blitzing type of player. He is way to small to play a true LB spot right now, but he showed lots of skills blitzing with TCU from his hybrid safety / LBer spot

he is something of a "tweener", but people were saying the same thing about Woody coming out of college. Woodson played linebacker in college (Campo was a part of that draft pick if I recall correctly)

but big difference in 6th round and 2nd round obviously, and big difference in the potential of the two players OBVIOUSLY.

Ya, if he's that good at ST he could have a long career.

what's the deal with his "character" or lack thereof?

Arrested in 2007 and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon and reckless discharge of a firearm.

Oh, yah! :D It was actually Bob, Bear and I trying to convince a couple of guys that "big" safeties were real, not imaginary characters like the easter bunny, santa claus and unicorns.

Although they seem to believe in unicorns. :D

Norm was just saying he and some friends were firing a gun in a parking lot and an off duty cop saw them.

Hodge is not that much different in size and weight from Jason Williams (6'0 to 6'1 and 235 to 241). One inch and 5 lbs is not insurmountable folks. :)
