Stephen: I don't see us moving up in the draft but we could move down

Even if I am off for a year.

2 years of NFL tape vs his college tape.

Ill take the NFL tape against NFL competition. And he hasnt shown anything since being drafted.
He has shown he can catch the ball and block. To say he would go undrafted is wrong. He should contribute.

When has he shown he can catch the ball? in the NFL.

You dont draft a blocking WR in the 4th round. That is what I am saying. This teams use of draft capital just to make a move is beyond stupid.

Look at Lance. You agreed it was dumb. So they double down, do it again, and probably draft a WR at 12 pushing Mingo down to 4th or 5th on the depth chart lol.

Its nonsensical to believe this team has any idea of what it is doing.

You don't give up on a guy you paid 3 1st round draft picks for less than 2 years prior for a 4th if you have something.
Yesh but you also don’t use 3 1st rounders on a player who doesn’t. I get what you’re saying and I agree. But we can’t say oh we shouldn’t have traded a 4th for a guy the 49ers didn’t think was good because they were also the team that thought he was good enough to be traded for. It was a bad move. I get it. But I do it every time. I’m all for trading for first round picks.

If they don’t give Mingo a legitimate chance it’s a questionable use of a 4th round draft pick in trade. Physically big WRs are becoming in vogue in the NFL and he could have a role in the offense. I don’t know his name, but didn’t the Eagles draft a big receiver with a 4th or 5th? He hasn’t done much either, yet.

The Mingo deal might not be a bad one. The deal for Trance, just to watch him walk away, was obviously not a well thought out consideration.

..he's calling the bluffs.... lol..

He later went on to to say, "or we could stay where we're at. Guess all options are on the table."
Exactly lol, he just likes to talk into microphones, like his daddy.
We will find out when it happens.

I think it is a waste of time to try and figure out what any team is going to do in the draft.
Then the cowboys are insane, lol, so no point in guessing what they might do.

W/o even playing him in a lost season.

It’s gonna take a perfect scenario to trade down. I think they’d probably only move down two or three picks and that’s if several guys they like at 12 are still on the board.

Moving down to the late teens or 20’s means drafting a player with a second round grade.
Good point.

There is usually only 18-20 true first round grades, the guys drafted in the bottom of the first round are actually guys with second round grades.

Of course teams will never admit to drafting a player in the first that had a second round grade, that is why you always get the "he was top 10 on our board, cant believe he was still there" boilerplate message in the presser afterwards.

and this year, most draft pros are saying it’s closer to 12-13.

Best move is to stay put because a really good player will be there are 12 and the team has several needs.

If they’re trading down, I’m starting to think it’s best to just trade out of the 1st round altogether.
