Cowboys VP Stephen Jones said the team wants Jason Garrett "around here for the long term," but "everybody’s back is against the wall right now."
Jones added the team wants "to take the next step" and said it has been too long since they have gotten past the Divisional Round. The Cowboys made it clear Garrett is on the hot seat by declining to extend him this offseason despite the coach entering the final year of his deal, and these comments seem to lay out the milestones Garrett needs to reach to keep his job. Garrett has been the head coach for eight and a half seasons in Dallas. The Cowboys have two wins in three playoff appearances during that time.

Deep playoff run or Clappy is gone!!!!

It’s a win-win either way!

I say bring the coach in that had five 7-9 seasons with Drew Brees.

I count four 7-9 seasons, including 3 straight... after a SB win and 4 straight
playoff appearances.

I'd rather have the guy with 10 or more wins in 7 of 12 seasons and probably 2 plays
away from being in back-to-back Super Bowls.

Same guy. He also has three 13-win seasons.

he says that they have very high expectations for this young team to take the next step says the front office the head coach and the staff are they have their back against the wall for them its either better than last year or move on
