Well, yeah, he's not going to typically be one. But he is playing with a more complete player with CeeDee Lamb, which is one player I don't see Pickens surpassing. You never know, though.

This is a sales pitch to fans. No way in hell do you take targets away from CeeDee and give them to Pickens.

Lamb can simultaneously handle monster target volume and be top-notch efficient with that volume. He's just a stud. Ferguson will also get the customary Dak TE 60 catches, so Pickens' target share is basically what we threw at Tolbert or Cooks last season.

Pickens isn't really a high-volume guy anyway, so I think he can make do with a limited number of targets. In his 3 years with the Steelers, he caught 52, 63, and 59 passes. But he's got a bonkers 16.3 career YPC.

I don't think he is saying Pickens is taking catches from Lamb but his level talent is there as a #1 WR.

Just me, but I'm pretty sure they would love to see Pickens have an ALL-PRO season w/o the drama issues. At best, try to sign him to a long-term deal or tag him. Worst, we can't afford him but get a 3rd round comp pick

* Let him walk.....comp pick

Either way, the better he plays, the better chances of us having more Ws. That's a good thing

Im just saying it doesn’t HELP negotiations, so why say anything at all?

Could it be about trying to convince everyone you know what you’re doing despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary?
