I believe SJ pulled a power play on TO. I think Jerry proved he is starting to allow more say from his son. Sure SJ wasn't the only one wanting TO out. But I believe had SJ not wanted him to go he would be still here. Just my opinion.

I'm hoping SJ just go ahead and push his pops right on thru the back door and take over completely.

Bryan Broaddus had a great line this afternoon:

"When Jerry would be trying to burn down Valley Ranch, Stephen would be the one behind him with the fire extinguisher."

I dont think it was a "powerplay" as much as it was there were enoguh voices there at VR telling Jerry this move had to made, and SJ was one of them.

I think when it was all said and done, they loved TO the talent on the field, they hated TO the person and decided they were better off without him.

I also wonder if they thought that TO was going to slow down significantly enough (on the field) that it just wasn't worth the hassle anymore.

I don't believe for one second, and never did, Stephen isn't a huge part of this move.

How anyone knows that Stephen is going to be supposedly a great GM is beyond me? He may or may not be, but who's he been learning from besides his father?

When he takes over, who's to say he'll act as the GM?

Who says he'll hire a competent one if the only one he's been learning from is his father? At least, that's the devil's advocate opinion for those who think JJ is a terrible GM.

As far as I'm concerned, next year is the make or break year of Garrett. He's gotten a free pass and everything is set up for him now. It's put up time.

Nobility learned from their fathers and could be great or terrible.
i.e. Louis the 14th vs Louis the 16th...It depends on the individual, not the teacher.

Here I go again agreeing w/ you Sultan. Well put.

None of these clowns know a thing about Stephen to draw these conclusions. NOBODY KNOWS.

Wait for it....

:lmao2: Ahhhh.....all good.

Stephen Jones has always struck me as a Slimey Used Car Salesman.

That's a great point. For all we know, he may run this organization into the ground and or move the franchise.

Jerry isn't leaving, I can only pray that he hires a coach he's scared of (Parcells) but someone younger.

That's essentially what the San Antonio Express News reported today:

"[Jerry] Jones was at odds with his son, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, about what to do with Owens. The elder Jones reportedly wanted to keep Owens because having him on the roster guaranteed maximum media coverage and made it easier to market the club.

"But Stephen Jones and others reportedly countered by saying that team chemistry would only improve if Owens were cut."

Jerry Jones is a billionaire. He's not scared of anyone.

Just remember, Stephen got to learn first hand from the old mans triumphs and mistakes. That's a darn good education to start a clean slate on but its obvious he's capable of running this organization.
