Stephen Jones: Like LeBron, Romo just needs a ring

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Keep it stum secrect sauce.

LeBron is never going to get the respect he deserves, even if he wins rings for the next 5 years. People just have an unreasonable dislike for the guy, which they can't give a reason besides his press conference stunt that provided more money for charity.

I don't know, man, I think he's earned his respect. People may not like the guy, but there's no denying who the best player in the sport is. Hell, the entire issue of ESPN Magazine is dedicated just to him this month.

I don't like this comparison, only because Lebron is on a completely different universe as Romo. I understand the comparison but Lebron was unanimously the best player in his league prior to winning it all, while even if Romo wins a ring he won't be one of the best of all time.

Hey, I'm good with that. I just think that he won't get the respect he deserves without a title.

I think we are all on the same page in vague but general agreement. He would get a lot more respect with his 2nd career playoff win FIRST. I guess Stephen's mind races sometimes and do not look at the long hard slog to respectability.
Ah mean he have respectability on the game-to-game stats level, but that is it. I half told Tona to give me a wake-up call when he advances to the next level.

Oh, I don't know about that. You add a ring or two to Romo's gaudy stats and I think he gets into the discussion of all time greats of his era. He'd have to.

He's not Lebron though. Who may be the GOAT of his sport. But one of the all time best? I think he definitely would be mentioned with some jewelry.

See, right now all Romo's numbers are hollow. That's what the detractors say. What did they lead to? They don't mean anything.

If he can win a Championship all those numbers start to take on a whole new meaning.

Absolutely, you are 100% right.

But basketball is not football, one player can not lead a team to the super bowl. So to shoulder all super bowl desire on Romo is simply unfair.
