Heath shows more instincts to the ball in the air.......FS written all over him-hits like a SS. Steven Jones says they are looking for turnovers, here is a start.

But if the draft brings competition so be it.....brings out the best in both.

BTB had a good article last week on how much slot, corner and TE Jones is playing anyway. It was like 65% of his snaps. Oscan Brown and Jones along with Cromwell gives us a good group.

This might look foreign to some of you, but at 8:55, this is what an NFL safety with range looks like.

Heath baited Aaron Rodgers in a playoff game. Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers under threw that, so much so the WR didn't feel he could even make a play on the ball.

Heath is a Fan Boy legend. He will get exposed playing more downs.

Not sure he baited Rodgers, but Health made a good play. He deserves credit for that.

Yes, I agree. He made a great diving play. He has made a couple of nice plays, he's also been right-place right-time guy a few times. Overall, I just don't think he is a starting caliber safety.

Well, alright. Jeff Heath's our starter, Tyrone Crawford is our leader and we need some cornerbacks who can play the run.

The season can't get here fast enough.

another year of "dear gods get it over with already"!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, we don't need guys in the secondary that force turnovers.

He had 1 interception (2 if you count the playoffs) last year, playing a deep safety in a game where QBs can put the ball up 50 times a game. I think he's a try hard guy but let's not act like he's Ed Reed now. It looks like he may get his real **** this year, I truly hope you are right about him. I think he'll get us beat.

We've been horrendous on the back end of our D for years..why hasn't this guy ever been asked to play if he's any good?

Wilcox is horrendous..why couldn't heath even beat him out?

Probably bc he sucks

Based on what we've seen he probably isn't starting quality, but he has also improved. As long as he keeps improving I'm okay with him.

Stephen on defensive priorities the rest of the offseason: "No. 1 priority is get more pressure. 1A, make more plays on the ball, turnovers"

LOL Better to do that during the season ?? The jones boy talking wow.
Didnt really say anything.

Right place at the right time kind of guy describes how most safeties get their INTs.

I have no idea how Heath would do in a starting role. I see no problem in letting him compete. We used him in our 3 safety sets when one of Church and Wilcox was dinged up. He has improved his rookie year. That's good. At the very least, he has a role in our 3 safety sets given how he played last year.

It's fair to be skeptical.

But I find it funny how most of the fanbase gives David Irving the benefit of the doubt as a guy who deserves a chance to start despite only flashing for a few games, yet Heath isn't given the same benefit of the doubt.

Both are UDFA's, physically gifted, flashed for a few games, played behind JAG's on a weak unit.

Yet Heath doesn't get the same love.

The guy looked like he didn't belong on the field when he got extensive playing time a few years ago. It is possible for players to improve though

People will not get over Detroit.

He was a 21 year old UDFA. How good would Romo have been had he started his rookie season coming out of Eastern Illinois?

Physically/Athletically-he is an NFL player

The Cowboys have done well IMO managing the offseason...

They're in line for 4 comp picks.

Compare that to the Bills who lost several players also, won't get a comp pick.

Yep. I think we're in bigger trouble depending on David Irving to be our "war daddy" than Jeff Heath to be our second best safety.

when the cowboys begin to win playoff games and make deep playoff runs with this group of people running the team then I will begin to believe more of what they are saying you have to win eventually

It sure seems you got a personal vendetta against him. Heath, imo, has the potential to be a starter. Maybe a bridge guy, but you yourself said "he's also been right-place right-time guy a few times". That's a pretty good trait to have.
