Stephen Jones: The offense is affecting the defense

This is what SJ said on his weekly radio show. While I understand the notion of keeping the ball away from the other team your defense should not be built to depend on the offense.

The defense should be built to be independent of the offense, now if the offense performs like it did last year then great but if not it can stand on its on.

This means the when Zeke goes out the whole team goes down hill because everything (offense and defense) is built around the running game.

This whole notion is terrible imo.

Not sure what he's thinking.......first read I thought he was saying the defense is on the field too long. But that doesn't make any sense coz the Chargers only punted once the entire game if I'm not mistaken.
